  • New weight target

The consultant at my Sleep Clinic thinks that I 'might' be able to come off CPAP therapy if I can get down to 90 kilograms. When I got home I checked my bathroom scales and, yes, they do go down to double digits....

    Hi Grumpy,

I wish you luck in your quest to lose the weight you need to end your therapy.

During the months of my diagnosis, my GP recommended I lose weight to help reduce the symptoms. I have so far managed to drop from 106kg down to 88kg, but I'm now struggling to reduce my weight any further.

Keep us informed of how you get on, we are all behind you on this.

Hope this doesn't sound negative and losing weight is good (says I with about 4 stone too much of it) but when I was skinny 20+ year old I still snored like a runaway locomotive doing an impression of a jet engine. Wish to heck I'd heard of cpap 30 years ago...........assorted friends and family would have enjoyed life so much more.

I totally agree Martin, same for me - hindsight and good doctors would have helped so much.

I don't expect to lose the mask by losing weight either, but being 6 stone slimmer than I was 2 years ago is making huge changes in other areas of health.

I will second that. The wife and I joined a gym last month, and we have been going three times a week. My weight has come down from 102.5K to 98K - still a long way to go, but I feel much better.

Gonna hate myself for saying this but the the only way of losing weight is by starting..........I'm good at starting............I'm lousy at following though but you don't get anywhere unless you at least start. Now in a spirit of self righteousness I will eat fruit for breakfast instead of a doughnut and give it another go.
