  • fatigue is worse since abstention from alcohol? any idea why?

Hi all, first time on the forum. I used to drink a lot, quite a lot. I would achieve sleep almost instantly, and be able to rise, quite early with energy and vigor. My partner informs me that my apnea and snoring, as well as my sleep, was also instant, far stronger and far more constant.

I have not been drinking for around 3 years now and regardless of how much or how little sleep I manage, I always feel constantly exhausted and virtually brain dead for the first our of the morning! My apnea and snoring have improved dramatically, my partner tells me, but now I have far less energy.

Anyone got any advice or similar experiances?

    Hi Rick, welcome!

Considering the effort it takes the body to process alcohol, it would be more logical to feel more refreshed when not drinking. The only exception perhaps being Guinness as I've heard that contains so many nutrients, people could live off it alone .

Just to make sure, you don't use CPAP?

Did anything else change at that time perhaps? Perhaps you moved or diet changes?

          Hi all,

Doc has referred me to a respitory consultant. Any idea how long the NHS wait is?

          Cheers
          Rick

Really depends on the area, there's no national figure that would make any sense in your situation. Follow-up a few times and it will become apparent judging by how many are in front of you in the queue.

Getting referred is a decent start though!
