Congratulations and welcome to the world of sleep.

Your tiredness could be all sorts of other things as well as the Sleep Apnoea. It could be that you are getting disturbed sleep for other reasons (the warm humid nights we have been having aren't good for restful nights for instance), or it could be that there are other underlaying causes such as Thyroid problems. Now you are successfully on CPAP, that can be ruled out of the equation and other things checked. Give it a few more weeks and if it still persists, see the GP.

As for the Sleepyhead interpretation, several on here will happily offer advice and assistance. Just start up a new thread with it.

Thanks for that, Fredxx. I'm going to start a Sleepyhead thread.

Once in 3 months or so, I may go 2-3 nights without the CPAP, especially if we are visiting somewhere, and cannot get a separate bedroom for the kid - My wife reports that I do not snore loudly anymore, and I too am reasonably refreshed in the morning. I have never tried to give up the CPAP altogether though, if I have it with me, I use it as a rule. I havent had any trouble driving long distances even, if I miss the odd day. It may help that I have lost a full inch around my neck since I started in CPAP. I have lost 15 kgs in all that is 2.5 st isn't it?

After 14 years of CPAP, I would be totally lost without my mask

I have tried the odd night without the mask but have suffered for it.

Some side effects still exist, mainly sinus problems but on the whole, CPAP works for me.

Since starting the treatment I have had no relapses of my falling alseep problems.

Prior to CPAP, I even fell asleep once at the traffic lights with my foot on the clutch and the car in gear. That scared the living daylights out of me when I woke up.

My favourite condition was the "falling alseep while typing on the computer and waking with pages full of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa's and the keyboard beeping at me in a frenzy"

So persevere, folks, it really does work.
