  • Nose infections

I had never had a nose infection in my life until I started CPAP treatment; but I have now had a few in a row. It usually starts as the skin gets sore just inside the nostril. The treatment is an antibiotic cream and it usually gets better straight away although you have to keep applying the cream for 10 days in which time the cream starts to become the problem for me. If I stop it early though the infection comes back, and I have now had it return a few times. Pretty sure this is exacerbated by either CPAP or possibly nasal hair trimming ( because it tickles the nostril flapping in a CPAP breaze).

    Anyone else solved this problem?

No - but have you tried one of these?

Brilliant bit of kit and I fail to see how one could cause an infection.

      had a few infections

      ..usually coupled with nose-bleeds.

Regular use of Sinupulse helps prevent the infections and the nose-bleeds. If I do get a nose bleed then a quick dab of Nelson's tea-tree oil cream seems to work; its a natural antiseptic. The cream may help if you dab it on after the nasal deforestation; its available from supermarkets. Don't use just before dining as the smell can be a bit off-putting.

Thanks both. I have a nasal trimmer, of different design, and I have a pump too but had to stop using it. Saw the doc yesterday and he told me to stop strimming the hooter until it clears up. Perhaps nose trimmers get worn (like everything else) so need to be replaced so they are sharp.
