Hi Folks.
Does anyone else on here suffer from Micro Cardiovascular Heart Disease and if so how are you coping with using APAP/CPAP.
I have severe micro cardiovascular heart disease diagnosed about twelve months ago and things seemed to be under control, but since starting on APAP just over three months ago my breathlessness and Angina pains have increased a lot.
Perhaps I had better explain what Micro Cardiovascular Heart Disease is,to the best of my knowledge anyway. Its when the small blood vessels in the heart become blocked and this then weakens the heart so that it cannot pump enough blood around the heart and lungs to give you enough oxygen in the blood, so when you excersice you are very short of breath and hence get terrible chest pains just like your chest is in a clamp,(Angina) it becomes very restrictive to what you can do, I cannot walk up slight gradients or climb my stairs without suffering extreme shortness of breath and chest pain. Not a great deal of information is available in this country for the condition although the Americans are far more advanced in its reshearch. As far as I am aware there is No known cure for this condition only medication to help widen the arteries as the arteries are so small they cannot use stents as they do in angioplasty.
The good point is that since being on APAP is that I can now get a reasonable nights sleep and my AHI has come down from 55.3 to my lowest reading a couple of days ago 0.1 and last night was 0.2., my only problem with using APAP is that I suffer terribly with a dry mouth and throat during the night even though I use a humidifier, this is mostly due to the medication I have to take but with the machine blowing I get a very sore roof of my mouth, and I am wondering if the pressure from the machine is affecting my heart condition, my GP cannot give me an answer.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone else suffering from my condition
Ron
