  • My 1st night with CPAP

    Hi everyone,
Well last night was my 1st night with my CPAP machine. I have an Escape II with humidifier and the mask is a Mirage full face. Aparently, the machine was set to 11? by the sleep tech. I had the humidifier set to half way too. The problem is, I woke this morning feeling just as bad as I normaly do . Headache, feeling like I didn't even sleep etc.. There was no leaks on the mask at all and everything was set up right. I was thinking maybe the pressure was too low? The only setting I can get into on the Escape is the patient menu where it allows me to set the ramp only.

lol.. i wouldent complain...... the majority of people on there first night are lucky to see any sleep... let alone get through the night with no leaks waking them every 20 minutes
If your only complaint on your first night was you woke up feeling the same as usual... count yourself very lucky.... hehe...

But on the topic itself... i think the general concensus is that its not an immediate fix.. and can take a few days / weeks before your body adjusts and you start to see a real noticable gain.

Do you know what your AHI was for the night?

There's no way to tell what my AHI was on this machine.

Give it a few more nights,if your fatigue is really bad then it will take a while to feel better.

Speak to your clinic too! But give it a good few nights before tweaking any settings.

Don't expect too much too soon.

Use it tonight, tomorrow night and every night, and the benefits will begin to show. If there is no improvement, then back to the sleep-clinic and have the CPAP re-configured.

Nothing is chiselled in stone; a setting of 11mmHg seems awfully low, in my opinion, but you have to start somewhere.

Well, I woke today feeling better than yesterday, it actualy felt as though I'd had sleep and no headache!! . Had a couple of problems where I woke up because mask was too tight but was asleep within minutes I think. Wife said she did hear me snore a few times though so maybe the pressure does indeed have to go up?
