  • hi!

New on here, just been dignosed with sleep apnea, 36 dip or something an hour, not sure what that means lol. I get my cpap thingy next week, feeling a bit of a mixed feeling about it, but hey, if it works........ just a question, does shift work have a negative impact on sleep apnea, i work in childcare, and now my employers want to put me on sleep over shifts, i was on office hours, any ideas? thanks all

    Hi Scooterlad,
    Welcome to the forum.
OSA isn't so bad, treatment makes you feel much better. It is just a case of getting used to sleeping with a mask on.
As for doing night sleep overs, that is ok as long as you can take your machine. Once you are on the treatment it is best to stick with it to get the best results.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
    Regards
    Lorraine

cheers for the reply, i was just wondering about work, due to the high chance of being woken up at night, as essentially on call throught the night, was wondering if i should get used to the cpap first? been trying to get regualr sleep patterns but this will throw it all out ofsync.

My advice would be to ask them to give you a couple of weeks to get used to the machine first
