I was surprised today when I phoned my insurance company to tell them of my OSA. They were not interested and said that they only want to be told if your doctor, clinic or the DVLA has told you not to drive. In that case the only thing I would be saying is give me a refund.

Is this normal practise now? I'm pleasantly surprised that they did not attempt to extract more money from me!

Yes, all the insurers right now care for is whether you are fit to drive, as judged by the DVLA or your doctor. If you hold a valid licens,e you are fit to drive and they don't care whether you have a cold, sinusitis, OSA or chronic migraines. The fact you have a license, and you have told the DVLA about any disabilities that may affect driving is enough for your insurance.

Though for good measure, it doesn't hurt putting it i writing to them, even if they say they don't care. If you do cause an accident, at least you told them and they can't then turn around and say you didn't.
