  • Is CPAP sensitive to holidays?

I notice it's been very quiet on the forum over the long weekend and wonder if our sleep troubles tend to go away when we are not at work - or is it when the sun shines?

I've declared the rain-out season over and put my heated hose away for the summer. My last winter vest was folded and put into the drawer some days ago. So how come the idea of changing my 10.5 tog sprng/autumn duvet for the summer 5 tog version seems so terrible?

Strangely - or so it seems to me - sleeping with the window open has resulted in longer, deeper nights.

Somewhere in there is something about optimal tempeature for sleeping - and it appears to be lower than I like my bedroom in case I wake up for the loo in the middle of the night. Are the sacrifices to CPAP endless?

    Warm nights

I have found the combination of warm nights/lighter duvet and open windows to be much better for sleep quality. Someone also told me that a dark room helps. I just have to convince my other half that she doesn't live in the Arctic (she does like a warm house), and that modern houses, with their insulation and double glazing do keep the rooms much warmer.

      That makes two of us!

      Hi Andy

      I'm with your other half!

I can't get my head round central heating, double glazing, effective insulation - and leaving the window open at night! and it's still open in the morning, of course, when the heating is on again. So I freeze my tootsies going to the loo in the night and again in the morning, with all the heating pouring out of the window!!

However, the conclusion I'm resisting is that a cooler room helps better sleeping! How cool does cooler have to be for a good kip?

I'm starting that question from a sub-tropical stance, by the way!

        Feeling the heat

Well, from a "sub tropical" stance, I would say an aired room (window open) with a temperature of 18C would be about right (with a summer duvet of course).
However, I am sure that my missus would prefer 30C, with a Winter duvet and wooly jim jams.
Each to their own I suppose.
