  • High blood pressure questions

I have only been diagnosed and treated with high blood pressure (usually around 170/110) in the last three years. I am now on Lisinopril 20mg, and I have noticed some unwelcome side effects. I have headaches and feel very tired. Has anyone else had similar experiences, which may or may not be linked to their sleep apnoea?

I've had high blood pressure for about 10 years now and take 50mg Atenolol. Since taking it my blood pressure is fine and I have no side effects at all.
    Kind regards, Tricia

Lisinopril is an Angiotensin inhibitor and one of the new generation of drugs to treat high blood pressure. Atenolol is a Beta Blocker and a bit old fashioned now - there is more possiblity of side effects with this one. I think a doctor ought to be able to answer your question andy.

Hello. Have you been checked for osa? I originally went to my hubby's cardiologist due to extreme fatigue and poorly controlled bp, even with meds. He suspected that sleep apnea was the cause, sent me for testing, and sure enough it was, and severe at that. Since getting my cpap, no more snoring, more rested, and bp is backing down. Course, the cpap is in itself qute an adjustment, but was well worth it.

              Morning headaches?

Morning headaches could be indicative of carbon dioxide retention...
I'd get your spo2 levels checked by getting a pulse oximeter for the night.

Mine went misdiagnosed as migraines for over 2 years...
I used to have 3 headaches per week, drink 6L of diet coke a day to function.

CPAP made a big difference to my sleepiness and even though it's still needs some pressure tweeking, the headaches are now 2 per month.
