Hi im now just about at one with my nose mask, and was sleeping going down from 39aps per hour to just 2!!! .but! now im waking twice per night and my throat is really really dry to the point of not being able to swallow!
so is it my apnoeas waking me., or the dry throat?
i note some people have humidifiers, do the hospital provide these?

Yes the hospitals provide them, talk to them as soon as you can. The problem may also be down to you developing a cold, but anyway a humidifier would help.

Hey dkyb2008!

Good hydration throughout the day should help.

But ....

In which position are you when you wake - side, back, front? Your sequence may be like mine - roll onto my back, minor hypo or something to start me mouth breathing, ever drier mouth and throat, somewhere in there an apnoea, APAP cranks up to full bore and I wake with air leaks hissing about the bed. Whether the apnoea or the leakage a minute later wakes me makes little difference. So, for me, the thing is to stay off my back - the start of it all.

Which reminds me, James - before your cold/flu/holiday/business trip of the last few days, I asked for more detail about your "funky PJ's" with regard to staying off my back. (the thought of wearling PJs and getting tangled is enough to give me nightmares - but add a tennis ball and I fail to understand ......).

Doris in a shirt!

James - you are a shining star!

I was on the right track with Doris but she was too soft and I could roll on top of her or push her away. But Doris in a shirt, strapped to my back! now there's a winner! I've gone for the three little Doris' in a row across my back - the other looks a tad cumbersome to me -and I'll give feed-back in due course (don't hold your breath, from US, time of year).

You give a keen price for stuff you don't sell yet, James!

Initial feedback - in my opinion .......

Just received my antisnore.com shirt. While I didn't expect to get good value for money, I did expect to be ripped off only by the standard medical rate. For $38 USD you get one poor quality, made in China T-shirt complete with three back pockets plus three see-through inflatable cylinders, medium thickness plastic.

Even at 2 USD = £1.00, this is not good value!

Now to see if the shirt works!

What a night!

The electricity supply was interrupted three times - APAP stops, argh! wassup? burglar alarm sends me text messages ans phone calls, power comes back just as I'm falling asleep, more burglar alarm histrionics, fall asllep, power goes off, APAP stops, argh! wassup? - three times in all!

So perhaps not the best night for the second test of the antisnore.com shirt, but ...

Though I have a broad back, the shirt tries to tip me onto my front when the three cylinders are fully inflated and fitted to the shirt - they are wider than I am. With the two outter cylinders at half-ish pressure, this effect is diminished but I found myself stuck uncomfortably on my side with no room for manoeurvre. Turning over onto my other side was an impossibility.

The three cylinders and the three pockets are of different dimensions, so, having chosen a snug fitting shirt on their advice, I was left with a tight fitting shirt which I was unable to move circumferentially around my body to adjust the position of the cylinders relative to me and the bed.

Both nights, I abandoned the shirt - which sums up my opinion of it.

Anybody want to see if they get on better with it? or maybe eBay?
