  • Help and Advice needed Please

Only yesterday I picked up my Apap S8 swift II Auto amd mask full face mirage. Well it went ok at the fitting/demo then came home and the moment of truth .
Set it up as shown and it seemed fine tried to sleep noticed air around my eyes so fiddled with mask it stopped then air around chin fiddled again tigtened straps ect seemed to work could not get comfortable( what a surprise) lay on my back which is not normal fo me and dropped off to sleep. Woke with what felt like a force 10 gale blowing everywhere! Eventually gave up and took it off. This morning went through it all again and found I had only clocked 3.5 hrs usage funny it seemed longer!!
Its set at 20mins ramp then 10 it also seemed to breathe when I did it that right? Does the adjuster on the front lift the mask ? How tight it too tight this morning I looked like I had done 10 round with Frank Bruno!!!
***Coffee and mince pies if you got this far and Thanks

Hold on a second, we have a Jillybeans and a jillybean here. I was confused for a moment!

Overtightening of mask straps is a common problem. You need it loose enough to allow the cushion to create the seal. The straps keep things in place, they don't make the seal.

      Two of you?

We have a Jillybeans in France, who does not have OSA and a jillybean who has OSA.

And I see James has already replied.

        Ok

So I overtightened it a bit but is the seal supposed to "breathe" when I do and I realise its an air cushion but how do Iget it to stop leaking?

The leaks would be prevented by tweaking the straps, getting the balance right between loosening one end and tightening the other. This can easily take a couple of nights to get right so don't feel disheartened just yet. If after a few nights of careful adjustment it's still not right, the mask just isn't good for your face and you'll have to ask for a different one.

Hi Jilly, I'm in a similar situation, I've been on cpap for nearly a month now, I had horrendous problems when I first started the treatment....it can get very frustrating but you probably don't need me to tell you that! My machine was also set to 20 mins ramp time but I was waking once the ramping stopped because the full pressure had kicked in so i changed the ramp to 10 mins, that way I was still awake when the ramping stopped and it gave me chance to fall asleep having got used to the full pressure, it might work for you too, good luck.
