    Not quite

    Thanks, Sleep2Snore and James.

The mask I saw looks like the Optilife but instead of that whatever-it-is across the guys's mouth, it has a mini-mask - like a nasal mask but over the mouth, or like a cut-down full-face mask. From that mouth breather stem the two nasal prongs.

I'm thinking that the smaller mask area would be more comfortable at higher pressures (I use 14.5 cmH2O) and permit lighter strap tensions.

        Hybrid perhaps?

We'll have this in our next catalogue revision but we can get it already.

PS If you saw it on the internet somewhere, try your browser's history to track it back.

I had similar problems with the Quattro large, but the medium fits well without leaks

            Thanks James and Sleep2Snore

You hit the nail right on the head! That's the baby I was looking for!

Good idea about the history, James, except I use Norton 360 which has an anti-Big-Brother feature - which also prevents me back-tracking, too!

            Now for price lists!

It's easier on the eye than a "Full Lower Face Mask":

Well, you both did - but S2S got the specific.

A different topic in a different thread, James - but which six of us won the hose gizmo?

Seems I first saw the Mirage Liberty not on line but in a promo mailing. The nice young woman at Resmed will sell me one for £99 until the end of January - amazingly, a price less than in the States (or not amazingly, at $1.46 to the Pound!!!) She's going to fit it for me on Monday, whether I buy one or not. Ohcrob, please note - she'll only charge £25 for a half hour session (what do you suppose Resmed pay her?).

Respironics gave me a free loaner 'M' Series and humidifier this afternoon. So. all in all, I'm having a very APAP time just now!

And James - please take the hint about price lists for your scary Hudson Hybrid Universal (and not the Hannibal Full Lower Face Mask - I can't see where the hose is attached and it looks leaky, anyway).

I've had the Hybrid for 8 months or so. It's a very promising mask and some people get on with it great (aren't all masks like that!). I gave up on it long ago. I had the same problems with the Hybrid as I did with the Liberty - leaking at the bottom corners of my mouth.

When it works it feels great and I really liked the nasal pillows.

No definite as we have a lot going on right now but if you know about the mask already and just want one, we can get them in before they go on. My best guess would be that the new catalogue will be available Jan 1st.

                                Things I didn't know

You've been holding out on us, sleepyblade!! You've had a Mirage Liberty for eight months???

I'm just back from Abingdon and a pleasant experience with very helpful people. The £25 was worth it not so much for the fitting session, but what I found out from people in the know.

Mirage Ultra Full Face Mask - there is a second type of cushion that gives more "padding" on the chin. At first trial, flat on my back in the fitting room, this cushion seems to solve my "why has it suddenly started to hurt?" problem. They gave me such a cushion for free.

Mirage Liberty - and probably any other hybrid mask - possibly the answer to a lot of our complaints (it leaks, it's noisy, it's uncomfortable, et al). Sits over your mouth and two pillows rest against and seal against your nostrils. Feels very strange at first but hopefully the ramp will take care of most of that. Comes with one size fits all (but not sleepyblade, unfortunately) mask over the mouth and small, medium and large nasal pillows.

A 360 swivel elbow attaches to the mask but the hose swivel is incorporated in an extra 8" hose that fits to the elbow. It is unheated and un-sheathed and just before the mask, so we may get rain-out tendancies. The swivel is at the end away from the mask (hard and soft fittings make it so) but a carefully made sheath should be possible. Lorr!!

While at Abingdon, my right nostril was partially blocked and the seal on the nasal pillow had a hard time coping with that. Amrutanjan (from India) cleared the blockage soon as I got home and the pillows worked just fine then. It seems, then, that the mask may be susceptible to blockage and blow-back.

I'll give it a go tonight and find out.
