I have a bit of a complicated problem. I’ve recently splashed out and bought myself the Resmed AirFit F30, after more than 10 years with a Resmed full face mask like the F10 (my model from the NHS is older!). I had wanted the Amara View but it seems to be no longer available in my size (small). The AirFit F30 has two horizontal nostril shaped holes, the Amara View has one larger hole.
I can breathe with the AirFit F30 but can hear the breath being caught on the way out. It never feels like I have a good blast of air up my nostrils. I have rhinitis and my old CPAP mask actually helped keep my nasal passages open.
Two-thirds of the way through the night, my upper nasal passages become congested and I can’t get enough air from the AirFit F30 to breathe. So then I’ve been swapping back to my old mask. I do sleep better with the AirFit F30 and I’ve had huge problems with leaks and dry eyes with my old mask for years (recently solved by advice to put a layer of material across the bridge of the nose under the mask) so I’m swithering whether to give up on the AirFit F30. I’m tempted to cut the silicone between the nostrils to make the hole bigger and see if that helps, except of course it puts it out of warranty. I’ve also wondered if I need the medium rather than the small as I was borderline on the sizing. Intus of course can’t advise me, though the person I spoke to thought it might be likely that I’d have more leaks with the medium size…
I’m wondering if anyone else has problems getting the full amount of air in AND out with the AirFit F30, and if they’ve found a different mask with one hole has made a difference.
