    Pay first, ask later

Joking aside, I can't see how you could go wrong with that one as you get the various options with it. Go with the pillows straight into the nostrils or click on the little nasal cushion mask for a change. I've read many good reviews and heard many good things about it.

Let us know how you get on with it.

        Comfort Lite 2 Mask

        Hello Martin,

I've been using my CPAP machine for nearly two weeks, and I'm not all that happy with my Ultra Mirage Resmed Nose Mask and was looking at the one you've just bought. I'd be grateful if you could let me know eventually how you get on with it, as you say, it is quite an expensive mistake to make if they don't work.

All the best though and hope it works for you.

            Hi Martin

I will be interested to hear how you get on with the Comfort Lite as currently I use the Resmed Mirage Swift II nasal pillows and get on really well with them. It took a bit of time to get used to them but having tried 6 different masks I went back to the Mirage Swift II each time.

Incidentally I use a chin strap to keep my mouth closed. I found that the leakage figures were high until I used the chin strap. It is not a glamorous piece of equipment but it is better than having to wear a full face mask. It also helps keep those double chins at bay!!

Early on I suffered with cold symptoms which the clinic told me were caused by leakage, from either my mouth or mask. I felt fine on first waking but soon after my nose would stream but I did not feel unwell like you would with a cold. Thankfully now have that in hand with the chinstrap.

            Happy sleeping

I have been using the ComfortLite2 for about 5 weeks now.

I reported about it last week = http://forums.cpap.co.uk/showpost.ph...3&postcount=12

I have used a pillow for a night to find it was too small. The Clinic didn't have any large ones, so they gave me a cushion to try . This is what I have been using mostly. It is really comfortable. I also used the mini mask a bit but my skin gets irritated on the top of the nose (DermaShield here I come!).

The aluminium support for the cushion helps get the correct angle with the nostrils. When the angle is right, you don't need it too tight to keep the seal (my CPAP pressure is 9.4).

Looking forward to hear from your experience Martin. I hope the mask is as good for you as it is for me!

spent first night with mask last night with size 5 nasal pillows and if it hadnt been for my 10 year old daughter having a nightmare I would have slept through the night . The mask feels a little heavy on the head at first but soon got used to it . One of the nasal pillows pinged out and gave me the impression of someone flicking my nose but that only happened once

The only worry I have with the mask is going bald at the front as it does tend to rub a bit ..perhaps I will place a hankie on my head first before putting the mask on

I will try the medium mask tonight and see what I prefer ...I wll keep you posted.

I have been using the mirage swift II nasal pillows for a couple of weeks now - what is the difference between pillows and cushions ?
Also how do you know if you are breathing through your mouth or got serious leakage, my machine is a sleepstyle 604 and very basic (no mask leakage figures etc).
I find the mask far better that the nasal mask and full face masks I have used before (only been on cpap approx a month) but am suffering now from inflammed and dry sinus's which in turn seem to be making my eyes sore and uncomfortable.

                      A cushion looks like this:

                      A pillow looks like this:

                      http://www.cpapsupplyusa.com/Respiro...-103050x.aspx#

The photos are not great... sorry... I cannot find anything better at the moment.

If you wear a nasal mask (or pillow/cushion), it is really noticeable when you open your mouth. All the air pushed by the CPAP machine comes out of your mouth. It is a very strange feeling. There is no way you can breath like that and not realize it. My machine is a stone-age thing and it cannot detect leaks or anything. But I do!

Like you Martin, I am worried about my hair. There is a distinct pressure on the top front of the head from the gear, and I don't know if a bald patch will appear soon...

Do you have a humidifier? Many CPAP users need one...

I might as I say put a hankie on the front of my head to see if that helps. Had a little bit of a headache and neckache too with the weight of the headgear with the tube as well.

I will persevere with it and if I cant get on with it might try the Mirage 2.

I use the Resmed Mirage Swift II nasal pillows and get on with them now really well. These I use with a chin strap as I was getting a lot of leakage - as shown on my Resmed S8 Autoset Spirit II machine and H3i humidifier. The chin strap works and the leakage figures dropped dramatically.

I tried a couple of the different sizes of pillows to make sure I got the right size, now use the medium one. I also suffered severe leakage at times when I did not put the mask together properly. The problem was that I had not put the small plastic washers at the side of the nose piece on to the headgear correctly. You have to get the little lump on the washer in the right place. It takes a while to get it all right so don't give up. I just do not know I am using mine now and that is after 5/6 weeks.

On the question of blocked sinuses try putting a small piece of cotton wool with Olbas oil sprinkled on it on top of the filter. It works a treat and will clear your nose.

The sore nose and eyes can also be caused by leakage especially opening your mouth whilst under treatment - I did initially as I tried to talk whilst the pillows were on and also because I am a bit of a meddler to see how things work. I ended up with extremely sore eyes and a very runny nose just like a cold. The clinic told me what the problem was. Needless to say I learned my lesson.
                            Cheers Retsyo
