  • Change of mask

Been using a CPAP for about 12 years now and have always had a nasal mask with my last one being the Resmed Ultra Mirage II. It has been quite good as long as it was kept clean and changed every 8 months or so. Recently however due to dental problems this mask has caused me considerable gum pain and a visit to my dentist confirmed that the mask was aggravation my condition. A quick phone call to the Edinburgh sleep clinic resulted in the supply of the new? Resmed Swift FX nasal pillows mask.
What a revelation. Comfort from the word go with no sensation of wearing anything on my face. Sleeping on my side has never been easier and adjustments are so simple to make. No overtightening and making sure that the pillows sit properly at the nostrils ensures success every time. A strong exhaust is easily cured with the application of the green pan cleaner material which can be stripped from the backing sponge. Held in place with a couple of elastic bands fixes this and I have not suffered any consequences as venting is still fine.
    Simply unbelievable

    Hi Queensmessenger,

It is great to hear you have found a suitable mask for you! It can be a tricky task and take some perseverance, but it is all worth it when you find the right one. As this post is from a while ago, we hope you are still having a positive experience with the Swift FX, keep it up

Nasal pillows great for those that can't use them.

        After a few months use

I find this mask better than ever. Some readjustment of tension straps needed from time to time but otherwise great. Easily able to sleep on side and turn over without dislodging the seal. If you can wear one of these just go for it

6 years on and mask now not sealing properly despite regulate changes of headgear and nasal pillows. My wife complains every night about noise and draught from vents in swivel and as a result my sleep is suffering. Anyone tried the resmed 30i with top hose attachment as I feel this may resolve problems. Only alternative will be spare bedroom or divorce. Help please!

            Hi Queensmessenger,

Can I kindly ask the following:
            1. What mask are you are currently using?
            2. Did you use the sizing guide to ensure you have the right size mask for your face? If not, then I can send you one to check
            3. Have you watched a fitting video specific to your mask to see if that helps you adjust the mask to get a better seal?
            4. Have you tried RemZzzs mask liners? There are a soft cotton fabric liner creates a barrier, absorbs skin oils and reduces air leaks as well as skin irritation and pressure marks. Try a sample pack for just £6.99.
            5. Does you mask leak all the time, or just when you move or turn over in bed when asleep?

If you can let me know the answers to the above, then I can try and help you with the mask you have, or suggest an alternative mask that might be suitable.

Please note that we offer mask fit insurance on some of our masks, so if you were to try the ResMed 30i, with the mask fit insurance then this would allow you to try the mask for 28 days, and if it was unsuitable for any reason, then you can return it for a refund of the mask price.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

            Kelly

              Hello everyone,

I'm using CPAP since beginning May this year so ...I've only web information.....

My question: How long does a full face mask Resmed last 3 months- one year or more than fives years? Has any one done or made his own mask with and 3 D printer and 3 scanner this must be great. 1st i't cheaper 2nd it's perfectly fitted and printed 3d on your face. 3rd you could remodel de scan 3D as you like for example a full head mask like the ones astronaut wears with perfect cushions inside (or what about moto bike helmets)
Id Resmed air sense 10 auto

                Good Morning,

                Thank you for your post.

The length of time a mask lasts, depends upon how well it is looked after, and cleaned.

However the cushion and the headgear on the masks are classed as consumables and are mean't to be replaced. We sell various mask parts for ResMed and other masks, which allows customer to replace parts, rather than having to purchase a whole new mask - https://www.cpap.co.uk/shop/cpap-mask-parts.html

Please note the manufacturer's warranty on the CPAP masks are 90 days.
