Im looking to buy a new mask to replace the hospital supplied Quatro FX.
Im thinking of either buying the F&P Simplus or the Resmed Air but which one.

    Only you can answer that!
Shame there wasn't a try before you buy service.
These masks are not just a few quid a go!

      Tell me about it.
When I started CPAP my hospital did not supply full face masks.
I had to buy a mask just to try CPAP

          new mask

The Resmed Quattro Air looks like a Quattro FX with a head brace which should stop it riding up so could be a good mask. My favourite is still the Mirage Liberty.

I will probably go for the Simplus but Im struggling to get any information about the sizes. I probably need a large but dont want to spend £120 and then find out I bought the wrong size.

I have got a large Simplus and it must be the best mask I have ever used.
I have been using the mask for nearly 3 weeks now and I am struggling to find something wrong.
Last nights stats are pressure 14.0 ,leak 0, AHI 0.1 and its been 0 leak for the last week.

Brilliant, 14 of pressure and no leak.
Looks as if you have found the perfect mask for you.
You have a perfect ahi, what more could you ask for?
Oh yes, a lottery win and a nice looking woman

The cushion is a pretty complicated design, the top part hinges to give the good seal on the nose, but I wonder how long it will last. Only time will tell.

Not sure about the well done comment and the jealousy
I cant see my hospital ever supplying the Simplus. Not a chance in hell
At £129 for a new mask and the cost of parts it will continue to be expensive time. I reckon I must have spent a four figure sum on masks over the years.
I have been trying to get the hospital to supply the Resmed Air, they buy all Resmed equipment, but have got nowhere on that yet.

I still find the Simplus the most comfortable mask I have used to date and my stats are still nigh on perfect BUT the headgear has started to fall apart.
Its been replaced FOC so only time will tell if the replacement is any better.

Just got back from my yearly check up .. and after 3 years of the the quatro .. which is pretty big and bulky but the only mask that ever worked for me... they have given me a simplus to try..
seemed to fit really well when i tried it on and no leaks.. even when i flexed my jaw and moved it around it stayed completly sealed... alot lighter than my quatro and without the large forehead brace as well...

i have heard that the Leicester clinic is rated very highly with a large amount of masks available to try.. but hopefully if i can get mine through my clinic for free others may well be able to as well.... so ask

That sounds good. I really hope that it works for you.

You're really lucky that you see a nurse at your yearly appointment. I haven't seen one for three years! I have to go to the clinic just to hand over my machine to get it checked over by a technician.

I'm glad that the NHS cutbacks aren't affecting the whole of the country.
                              Kind regards, Tricia
