  • Detailed CPAP user mask review; Resmed Mirage Quattro

    Hi everyone,

If anyone is needing any help with choosing a mask, or is looking for general tips then youtube is worth checking out! Here is a video of a CPAP user reviewing the Mirage Quattro in some detail. He also gives helpful tips for mask fitting and even how to scratch your face without causing leaks, so check it out!

Does anybody have the Mirage Quattro? Would you agree with what he says?

Feel free to share any mask tips you may have as well, every little helps!

had one for a few weeks

The sleep clinic didn't have any Mirage Liberty masks in stock when I went for my annual reiew (which was actually 20 months after the last one!) so I ended up with one of these to try. I think its pretty good (and much better than the Quatrro FX) but it is a bit heavy.

The straps are much broader than on any other mask I have tried which means that they will probably be more stretch resistant but can be quite difficult to undo; that Velcro really grips! The forehead brace really stabilises the mask and helps reduce leaks. The mask seems to stay put once you have got it in place and the pressure turned on; unlike the Q-FX which tends to ride up.

The review on the 1st video linked to was comprehensive and pretty fair I would say. He makes a very fair point about how close the seal comes to your eyes; but I wouldn't describe it as claustrophobic just not entirely comfortable.

Definitely my second favourite mask and one I will use if I can't use the Liberty (because of a sore nose for example). Still hoping to get a replacement Liberty though.

        Hi Grumpy,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Glad to hear you have found 2 masks that suit you, it can be tricky finding an ideal mask! When you say you get a sore nose from the Liberty, in what way do you mean?

          sore nose

The mask doesn't cause a sore nose but a cold can; then it can be very uncomfortable to use the nasal prongs.

Yes of course! It is a good idea to have a full face mask as a back up for times like that as you have. Have you ever thought about nasal irrigation when you have a cold? It would mean you would be able to use the Liberty still if you wish without the sore nose!
