  • Thoughts on the Sleepweaver textile mask please.

I’m really interested in the textile Sleepweaver masks and was wondering if anyone has tried them? What I really want to know is what are the pros and cons of the mask. Ultimately should I get one!?...
Some of the videos I’ve watched show that you have to learn how to tweak it to get it to seal, was this easy to do and did it seal? I’ve noticed lots of people say it’s comfortable but what makes it comfortable? And what’s the material like – does it feel different to a standard silicon/plastic mask. Finally if I didn’t like it is it true that I can return it for free? Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks for your Help....GraceyD

It feels very different from a silicon/plastic mask. I can only speak for myself - but the Sleepweaver is the only one that has been successful. And it was not love at first sight - I didn't get on with it at first as I was convinced I was a mouth breather... but with further experimentation it is now 100% successful and I could not sleep without it. Mine does seal easily - and that has never been a problem..

I'm sold on the concept, both the advance and the elan are easy to get on with, comfortable and seal well. Easy to clean and quiet too, with no jet of air for your ned partner like many hard masks.

For the price of a tank of fuel in your car it's worth saving for one and having a punt.

        Sleepweaver

Hi I use the sleepweaver and have found it so much easier than the mask I was issued with. The only problem for me is air blowing into my eyes but I solved that by wearing a pair of goggles. I look a bobby dazzler but it works and it allows me to sleep with a mask on all night. It also allows me to sleep on my side which I couldn't with the True Blue Phillips Respronics mask. It's quite expensive but has been worth it for me. Haven't tried the Elan so can't comment. Good luck

You might be able to overcome thast problem without goggles. With CPAP machine on running pressure (not ramp) I loosen the top strap very slightly, then with thumbs pressing slightly on the outside of the upper part of the mask and forefingers run in beneath the edge of the mask either side of the nose, I pull outwards with the forefingers so the inner skirt fills with air and then after letting the maks down gently I retighten the top strap a notch. I then repeat without adjustment of the top strap and that nine times out of ten sees me leak free in the eye area until morning.

The Elan vents downards towards the chin, and seems to be better at sealing.

Also if you have a data or auto machine and you can judge the effectiveness of your therapy you may be able to adjust the pressure, I've found that the required pressure to get good therapy varies depending on the mask.

For light reasons I sleep with a med weight dark t shirt over my eyes and the bit of weight on the material seems to reduce the leaks....motto on th shirt is optional
