ResMed Mirage Liberty pushing teeth ?

I've been using this mask for about a month now... which is just about how long I've been on cpap. Whilst I managed to get a good seal on the mask and have 0 leaks, I have been suffering from sore teeth in the morning, and I notice I have a line accross my upper lip where the cushion has been pressing.

It makes me think I must be putting it on to tight, but loosening it up means I get leaks.

I'm worried it's actually moving my teeth over time. Anyone have similar experiences with this mask, but managed to resolve them ?

I had the same problem when I started cpap my dentist told me my teeth had moved a bit and also developed pockets in the gums because of gritting and grinding so ended up having deep cleaning which is still going on. Have you tried the remzzz liners they do work regarding ridges in the upper lip and around the nose. I am having trouble at the moment with my mask it is the same as my last one but somehow feels different on the headgear.

too tight

You have the straps too tight. The mask should just sit against your face until you turn the pressure on; the pressure should create the seal.

Start by holding the mask in place with your hand with all of the straps loose.
Now tighten the top straps until they just hold the nose 'bungs' in place. Then tighten the bottom straps until the mask touches all way around your mouth. Make sure the nose bungs are sitting comfortably and in the right place before you turn the pressure on.

If you do need to tighten the straps a bit more it should just be a 'bit more'; if you find yourself continually tightening the straps then you ought to start again from scratch!

Remember to clean your mask seal and face each night before use; oils from your skin can cause the mask to slide around making it difficult to get a good seal. Tesco Sensitive Wipes are a good value option and do a great job.

Thanks for that advice, I've been working on this for the last few nights. I can feel it get the seal just lightly holding against my face. The trick is finding the way of keeping it there.

It seems easy for the nasal pillows to fall out, and seems to be the reason I'm tightening it up - to pull them in. I tried changing to a slightly larger size last night. I woke up a few times to find one of them out and gushing air into my face, and a few times under the chin. I think I possibly tightened a bit much on the head strap, as I had a little bit of a "feeling" in my front teeth this morning - although not as bad. I just need to find that "just right" mix of everything. I find that the angle of my head on the pillow completely changes how things sit as well.

I think my cleaning is ok now, I actually use those Tesco's wipes everyday, have a shave last thing at night and then wash my face before putting the mask on.

I did phone my hospital in order to speak to one of the specialist nurses about this. That was on Wednesday, they haven't called back yet.

Mirage Liberty Leaks

Due to the bridge of my nose being damaged from the ResMed mask, I had to switch to the Mirage Liberty mask, but it's been my first night and was up until 3am trying to stop the mask leaking. No matter what size nasal pillows I fitted. I know I was over tightening the straps but could not stop the leaks.

I had to go back using the original mask. The Mirage Liberty mask looks so easy to use but is so fiddly. My CPAP pressure is prescribed at 14 but consistent leaks and actually felt like I was being suffocated.

This mask is size SMALL, but the size marker on the package seems to measure up as LARGE. Could the CPAP team have issued me with the incorrect size?
