  • Mask cleaning when in hospital

A relative recently went to hospital with chest pains, he was kept in for tests and needed a heart operation. Testing positive for MRSA in the nasal passages he was sent home until he had 3 clear tests, but it seems there is a possibility he caught MRSA in the hospital.
Infections can thrive in damp humid atmospheres such as CPAP hoses and masks, so one wonders if a hosehead had to go in for an operation and therefore had to take their kit with them, how, especially if they couldn't get out of bed, could they keep the CPAP kit clean that they need for recovery when it may be unrelated to the operation and so hospital staff wouldn't put it through the sterizer or whatever?
    Any experience of this anyone?
