I have been using a swift FX pillows mask since diagnosed in March all has been going well but now 9 months down the line I wake up more frequently than in the early days and the mask seems more noisy, as in not fitting properly. Is there a shelf life for the Swift fx or any ideas what the problem could be? Any replies would be appreciated as my wife now goes into the other room not because of my snoring but because of the noise the air makes.

Could increased noise indicate a loose connection or possibly a split at the mask end of the kit? You might inspect it really closely but also the rest of the gear as it is also possible one supposes that the noise could emanate from the machine or pipe but be sounding at the mask end by transfer (a bit like a trumpet). It would be as well to be methodical and trace it back by checking the mask, hose, connections, machine, filters, what the machine sits on etc. I find one of those hose fleeces reduces noise too.
Hope you solve it.

Get your wife to check where the noise is coming from when you are using the gear. BA is correct about not knowing where the noise is coming from, I was convinced my machine was impersonating a jet engine at one stage but it was a small noise being magnified by bone conduction along the tube, I spent a couple of nights panicking that i was waking up the street. Its hard to tell whats causing it yourself.

Noisy Mask
I have been told by my supplier that the mask are only good for 6 months and must be replaced because they wear by pulling them apart everyday and cleaning them..... I have the same one but only for 3 weeks, the bottom of my nostrils in each corner got irritated and unbearable to use, so I switch to another type....Originally posted by CROFTON View PostI have been using a swift FX pillows mask since diagnosed in March all has been going well but now 9 months down the line I wake up more frequently than in the early days and the mask seems more noisy, as in not fitting properly.
