Sorry James - your reply must have arrived after I sent a reply to Tigers Fan. Thanks for the info.

I will therefore wait until my next appointment in November and do a bit of begging. My hospital is the Queen Alexandra, Portsmouth. The lead consultant is Jonathan Dakin and my Sleep Scientist is Tess Compton-Price. Do you need to know my name? If so, how can I let you know - don`t want to post it on here.

Absolutely! Even if it was just more comfortable headgear rather than the instant migraine straps. Come on manufacturers, how about a low profile full face mask that really does have a comfortable method of fitting without leaks?

It's called a Quattro FX with a Quattro headgear a size smaller.

Oh! and SleepWeavers are reported to be good, too.
            Respironics REMstar 'M' Series APAP.

Due to the worst cold I have had in years I have had to temporarily abandon my beloved cozy don't know you are wearing it Sleepweaver for a full face mask, liner, and humidifier. Hats off to you lot that have to use this set up all the time as the difference to me is like comparing old much loved slippers to brand new hobnail boots one size too small.
Will be buying a Quattro FX as my future cold back up mask methinks, and wondered whether pre-stretching the headgear over my son's basketball for a month would overcome the headgear probs?

Hi. That's really interesting. I do actually use a Quattro FX at the moment - medium size. The straps are so uncomfortable. The hospital recently gave me a large size to try. The mask itself is much too big but the straps (although only very slightly different to the medium) are very slightly less uncomfortable than the medium size when used with the medium mask. I'm not sure how using small size could help but I'm willing to try anything! Just wondering, is Quattro headgear a different item to Quattro FX headgear? Re Sleepweavers, I understood they weren't made for mouth breathers. Have I got that wrong? Thanks for your help.

A Quattro headgear is a different beast altogether from a Q FX headgear. The former is man enough for the job and the latter lacks cajones, part of the small and light image of the FX.

Could be - I don't know - that an FX headgear is OK at lower pressures. By lower, I mean low!

Stretching an FX headgear on a basket ball will just get you to the end game before you wear it once. The straps stretch and stretch until and beyond the point of there not being anywhere left to stick the velcro fasteners. Once the straps overlap at the back of your head, all is done - think about it. But no worries, a Quattro headgear works just fine - a size smaller though.

That's correct, although someone mentioned they are working on it.

Would be bad if I tried to cook it!

I am a mouth breather and I resort to the sleepweaver sometimes when I`m in too much pain with the other horrid masks. But I use it in conjunction with a mouth guard to keep my mouth shut (its a cheapo thing I bought ages ago and moulded myself but its full of holes and lumps). But my API index goes up high when using the sleepweaver. I think I`ve ruined it as well because of having the straps too tight.

Hi Patsy, have you considered using a chin strap rather than a mouth guard?

5 masks & still trying to sleep

                                Hi Martin,
I know just what you're going thru, but I do agree with the advice to keep trying to adjust the straps - not to get tighter particularly tho a little bit at a time.
Also the Remzzz do work I can't go without one - I also made some of my own with T-shirt material & I wash them as needed.
Sleep only came to me after about a month of trying with the mask etc - sheer exhaustion took over & thats made me more able to cope with it for some strange reason.
                                Liz
