  • Right! That's It!!

I've had enough of the leaks on this FX.. I feel worse when I wake up! I'm going to send it back to the sleep clinic I think. (Sorry FX fans but it's not for me).

Sorry to hear this, Mentalfog - but which FX toy are you throwing out of the pram?

Swift nasal pillows or Quattro full face?

Where do you get the leaks?

Is is because it just won't fit or when the hose pulls the mask out of place?

        Toss the Toy

Hi--if its nasal pillows-- they will leak if the headgear is not tight enough. You have to adjust, adjust, adjust til its just right. Takes a little time when you first lay down--but its worth it for a good nights sleep. Another thing is washing the head gear to make it shrink back into shape as it does stretch a bit with wear. So don't neglect the washing. Good luck on what ever you decide to do. xx Berneta

          Hi Mentalfog
I really sympathise with what you`re going through or should I say `empathise` as I often end up throwing the ruddy masks across the room after spending what seems like hours faffing about with leaks, trying not to twitch or move my face in fear of yet another leak. I end up getting crosser and crosser - it really tries the patience of a saint.

I have now tried 4 masks from the hospital to no avail and ended up buying myself a sleep weaver which is the most comfortable so far, but my AHI seems to be higher when using it. Basically I am getting through by chopping and changing masks - every time it gets to the `throwing across the room` point, I change masks and this works for a few days, don`t know why though.

            Hi again,
I used the Quattro fx full face mask (and used the measure guide at the hospital so got a perfect fit). It always leaks at the bridge of the nose no matter how I tighten the straps. It gets cleaned (the cushion) every morning with dove soap and rinsed in clean water. My face gets the same treatment twice a day too so no issues there with oils. The mask gets wiped with antibac every day then a complete clean once a week. The headgear gets washed once a week.

Alas, I'm a mouth breather as my nose gets blocked so I can't use nasal pillows.

TF, sorry, I didn't realise there was more than one FX product, silly me.. And TF, why are you always nasty to people? More to the point, what makes you think you can talk to people that way?

              Hi Patsy

That is the Les Waller Syndrome at work. Even if you have two masks of the same model, swapping them and/or headgear periodically reduces leakage.

I`ve always called it the Butterfly Syndrome - think I`ll stick to that. Thanks anyway.

WHi is my newest bestest friend?

I cannot remember who suggested or reported it first, but you are my newest bestest friend!

A Quattro headgear fitted to a Quattro FX and the sleep is perfect!

I was woken twice last night with a-brand-new-medium-headgear-stretching-and-permitting-leakage. At the second awakening, I tried the Quattro headgear change out and remember nothing else till I woke after sleeping late this morning.

PLEASE let this be the headgear solution for the Quattro FX!!!!!!!!!
