    Loosen the straps!

RemZzzs and gel guards should also help. A different mask definatley will - if it
    's the right mask!

If you are really having trouble stopping it leaking unless the straps are that tight, the Gel masks are a lot easier on the nose.

Make sure your skin and the mask are grease free (use a mild soap or cleanser) or it'll move around at night causing friction - wash immediatately before going to bed.

Try a sleepweaver mask if you can get one from your clinic or buy one (assuming you're using a nasal mask) as it's almost friction free, and very light and gentle.

And loosen them straps a little

I should really of said what mask im useing, its a Mirrage Quatro. And ive been putting a plaster on the bridge of my nose and loosend the straps. But all these little problems aside i have realised how disturbed my sleep was before CPAP,im now only wakeing up once a night and dont feel tired during the day.

This was the big revelation for me, I used to awaken, heart racing, gasping for breath - put it down to stress and nightmares for ages, it wasn't until waking after 3 undisturbed hours of CPAP that I discovered what sleep was, started dreaming properly again too.

Now I wake up feeling so relaxed I can (and did this morning) lie in bed for an hour before taking off the mask, just no wanting to do anything and enjoying being in bed.

Wait until you get your first 8 hr plus undisturbed sleep!

Hey there dirty trucker, I use the Mirage Quattro too and have an irritation develop on the bridge of my nose but thankfully it's only occasionally. Adjusting straps can be helpful but if you loosen them too much you will end up with mask leakage. This happened to me and I had to tighten them up to get back to having a full nights sleep again. I guess it's trial and error.

There is a website called Hope2sleep.co.uk and I believe they sell nose pads and strap covers if you have marks on your face too. I think there is a picture on their website. It's worth a try and more comfortable than a plaster. I tried the RemZzzs mask liners but they didn't work for me but they may work for you but as Symmit says make sure your skin and the mask are grease free that's a definite plus.

Must admit I've been on CPAP for over 2 year now and I personally haven't noticed any difference in my energy levels apart from not having to get up to the toilet anymore! I never used to wake gasping from breath although it must have happened but I wasn't aware of it. Glad it is making a difference to you, there is nothing worse than sleep depravation.

              All the best

                Oh yes there is!

I used to use the same mask (quatro), and due to the pressure setting being quite high on my CPAP, also had to have the straps fairly tight, otherwise it would leak every time I moved. Eventually after trying the plasters etc etc I went back to my clinic, with blood running down the bridge of my nose and told them I needed a different type of mask. They let me try different types, and eventually I chose the Mirage Liberty Nasal mask and have never looked back. I have permanent scar tissue on my nose now, thanks to the quatro.

I to recommend trying the Remmzz
From the first time getting my machine, I could not stop the leakage to my satisfaction without adjusting the straps tightly. This works, but like you, I quickly started to get quite a bad mark across the bridge of my nose.
But after trying the Remzz, this is greatly reduced and a hell of a lot more comfortable on my face. I wouldnt be without them now. I personally find I can use each remmz at least 3 days, though it probably varies from person to person, so they aren't as expensive as they might first appear. I have also experimenting with washing them and whilts they still do work, they are not quite as effective once washed as they tend to loose there shape.
