  • My mask fitting results

On Friday I went for my first ever mask fitting session. I was excited!

Nice lady... took one look at me and said you can't use a face mask because the bridge of your nose is too high and you will always get leaks or have to have it tightened so tight you will get sores on your nose.
She wouldn't even give any a try. She said that the only thing I could use was nasal pillows and that the one I had was far better than the one they have in the NHS stock.
I came away feeling that ok, I will give the nasal pillow another try and last night spend half an hour trying to get them not to leak or hurt. Eventually I gave up and put on the Mirage quattro and even though my face looks like some kind of train accident this morning I did at least get it to not leak for most of the night.
Now my quest is to fnd a nasal pillow mask with the holes in the right place.
OMG, anyone would think I had a big hooter after reading this and it is not so!
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Nasal Or Full Face

I struggle with full face masks due to prominent cheek bones; but can't just use nasal pillows because I breathe through my mouth when I'm asleep.
The answer for me was the Resmed Liberty FX which combines nasal pillows with a mask which seals around the mouth. I find it fairly comfortable and as a bonus it has the best vent design of any mask I've seen (so helps to keep partner happy).

Quattro FX is the way to go - small, light, bijou, not pink - if you can't get on with things stuck up your nose. The cushion design allows for vast variation of hooter contour!

Not sure I want to buy another mask without at least trying it first and my clinic wont let me try any
The sleepweaver is still my best so far.
I cant get on with the nasal pillows cos they make my nose feel bunged up when it isn't at any other time.
I am still waiting on a reply from Resmed about the altitude question.
        Hey ho,

Looks similar to Q-FX; perhaps with better headgear?
