  • Sleepweaver or Quattro fx?

Sleepweaver has been my 4th mask since diagnosis just under a year ago and the first one I am able to tolerate without bodily damage (to nose inside and out) but I get a very disturbed sleep. Wake a lot with leaks. Sometimes pulling the straps tighter sorts it, sometimes it doesnt, sometimes I dont get any leaks and sometimes they go on all night, so very random. I am often quite tired in the morning. I give my self one night off a week and that night is just blissful.

So now I am reading a lot of good stuff about Quattro fx from some of you (apart from the strap issue) and having Tiger Fox be so positive about anything has to alert us to something good! I can see that having straps over the top would work better than pulling from the side. I use a chin strap and would love to do away with it which I could with a full face mask. Is it worth the investment, after already paying for my own sleepweaver? Anyone getting quattro fx from NHS yet? Any advice welcome.

It's such a hit and miss thing, I'm using the sleepweaver most of the time but hay fever is kicking in and making nose breathing harder, so am swapping to the full face (F&P Forma) if I can't get to sleep.

I'd say to anyone who is dependant on CPAP that you could do with having a full face mask of some kind to hand, and try anything you have the opportunity to try.

A few members have reported NHS dispesing Quattro FXs. I have witten to mine asking for one - not holding my breath. In my limited experience. buying masks privately is part of OSA unlrss you are very lucky or very tolerant or have no choice but to rely on the NHS.

Before the Quattro FX, I had several masks which I'd switch around periodically. Now, I'd chuck them except for the FX.

The strap issue with the FX may be limited to the large size for all I know. It does not stop me using and loving the mask.

I know my clinic (Taunton) will be stocking them, but I went ahead and bought one myself as I couldn't wait for them as my yearly check up is June and they knew they wouldn't have them by then. That being said they did say they would support me for replacement parts etc and to be honest for the £90 it cost, I've had so many great nights sleep I don't care

The sleepweaver is no good for me as a mouth breather. I have tried four other full face masks and the Quattro FX is by far the lightest, smallest one. It's still a mask of course but all the design features are obviously to make it as unobtrusive as possible whilst still doing the job effectively...I would recommend it to mouth breathers...

It's apples and oranges a bit as indeed the SleepWeaver is a nasal mask and the Quattro FX a full face mask.

Many people love the SleepWeaver and also since its launch, the FX has been well received. But as with any mask, you can get all the advice in the world to then find you don't like it as mask fitting is such a personal experience.

With the SleepWeaver and the issues you describe though, can you tell me what machine, pressure etc. you use? Auto or fixed pressure?
