does any one know the solution? i go about 5 hours no problem with my Resmed Quattro FX but after that it just start leaking. the only way to solve the problem is to clean it but at 4o'clock in the morning this is really not what i want to be doing. i have only been using CPAP for just 2 weeks. i find it ok to go to sleep with my new mask "Resmed Quattro FX" but once i am awake i simple cant get it to work and up still getting a bad night sleep.

Have you tried Mask Liners? They have largely eliminated leaks for me: http://www.eu-pap.co.uk/remzzzs-mask...e-quattro.html

Have a look at the RemZzzs liners. That helps some people with that problem

        Stretchy straps

        Hi delibob

Sounds to me like you are suffering from the Quattro FX headgear weakness. It stretches!

Have a read at the tail end of the Quattro FX - Rave! thread.

In the meantime - I have found that the straps don't stretch as much after a while - a couple of weeks - so you can cinch them in a bit tight when you go to bed and find them at the correct tension when you wake.

Longer term - when the straps are so long it's hard to find a place to fix them to - cut them shorter and use a bit of self-adhesive Velcro on each. You can get a meter on eBAy for a couple of quid.

If it is stretchy straps causing your problem, please write to Resmed. The more feedback they receive about this, the more they are likely to beef up the headgear.

It's not just Resmed mask though is it, Respronics make headgear that I found really comfortable and consistent for around 9 months or longer but they do stretch and eventually lose elasticity.
If headgear didn't stretch they might go on forever (and manufacturers wouldn't sell so many masks).

All true - but my campaign right now is to get the Quattro FX headgear sorted.

Resmed would not sell many of these masks if word got out that you need to buy another £30 headgear every other month so my guess - and hope - is that they will do something about the headgear.

Resmed UK have taken my feedback sufficiently seriously to "escalate the matter to our Head Office in Sydney, for further investigation."

We can tackle other problems separately.

Well I hope the situation is resolved, perhaps those with Sleepweaver headgear issues on here should follow your lead and get together an approach to the company.

I know I am new to this forum, but surely if there is a problem with the mask/elastic can't you just phone your clinic? I had a hole develop in my hose, just phoned the clinic and received a new one in the post 2 days later.

That can be true if you got the mask from the clinic but not if the mask you use isn't stocked and supported by the clinic.
In addition whilst I was in receipt of one particular mask from my clinic years ago I had to ask for replacements due to a faulty part rather too regularly and they would just send me a whole new mask. I therefore took up the problem with the manufacturer direct and got some replacement parts.
It follows that whilst clinics nationwide may not take up a problem part with manufacturers, or even if they do, we as end users directly benefit from opening a dialogue if it leads to a replacement part and improved design.
                      [That's the theory anyway....]

                        New Masks

Hi Everyone, I use a Bravo Nose Pillow Mask that has leather and velcro straps--no stretching at all. I've had it for 11 months. Its made in a one size fits all-- with straps that can be adjusted at the top and around the back of the head. My only complaint is that the velcro is not holding as tight as it did in the begining. So I will have to buy a whole new mask, or replace the velcro. The Mask and 3 sets of different size nose pillows cost $69.00. US. Not a big deal since my insurance will cover it--but I wish there was no velcro on the straps at all--just buckles or heavy duty snaps. Don't know why they can't make a durable strap system. But of course that would mean less sales wouldn't it? And they are in the business of sales. x Berneta

I confess I thought the velcro was deployed to avoid buckles that would dig in and moreover allow quick readjustment when tired of half asleep.

That you can buy velcro anywhere and replace/fix your headgear I also took as a good thing as buckles and snaps are not always easily sourced.

I don't use this mask so my question is otherwise related but can you pre-stretch the headgear of the Quattro FX if it is a problem?

If the replacement headgear is also stretchy over a period of hours, then a replacement doesn't solve the problem.

Not tried this or heard any success with this, but would it be an idea to wash the headgear at quite high temperatures to "cure" the material in the hope it settles?
