Hiya, like you I went through the various types of masks until finally ending up with a full face mask. I found improvement virtually immediate with the full face mask and my quality of sleep/life changed virtually overnight.

If you are still having problems you should talk to your sleep clinic again - I was told that I was 'too accepting' and that I should make a fuss until everything was ok.... maybe you should do the same the benefits were definitely worth it, so sing out and tell them, don't suffer in silence.

Would have to agree that you may not feel any much different - the only thing I notice if I have managed a full night's uninterrupted sleep with the mask - which is not all the time - I do feel more rested in the morning. But my energy levels are good whether I have used the mask all night or not...

Bit afraid to say this in case I get lynched, but I felt a difference from day 1. The first week I was really buzzing, had to stop drinking coffee to calm down. The euphoria is gone now but I seem to be functioning as well as an unfit, fat fifty something can be, no more tiredness until late evening.

            Feeling Good

            Hi Pete,
I felt a difference right away too--but it took me about a week to have to stop the coffee. I was running everywhere and needed to slow down. I cleaned everything in the house and helped my hubby put in 4 new windows. Was wearing myself out. I guess we were fortunate to have immediate results--while others have a long haul. Sleep Apnea sure is not a one size fits all type of thing. Glad you are doing well. I have hope for everyone else. Berneta

              Hi drummergirl

I suppose it depends on how long you've had sleep apnoea, and if you've had it for a while whether your body needs to "catch up" with all the years of poor sleep?

I struggled with my mask for the first week or so in terms of being able to wear it all night, getting the right fit to prevent leaks etc, and to be honest I'm still having occasional teething problems now, That said, I can tell the difference between having a good night's sleep with CPAP and not sleeping much/at all (e.g. when I've taken the mask off in my sleep not long after going to bed, and waking up in the morning feeling dreadful!).

Please let us know if you're experiencing any particular problems with your treatment, as the chances are someone else here has probably experienced the same issue and may be able to offer advice on how to resolve the problem.

              Kind regards
