  • Been struggling with masks

I've been using a full face mask for the past 3 months but I've finally got fed up. Basically the bridge of my nose is just a blister and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I've tried various plasters etc.

I had an appointment with the consultant about three weeks ago and he sent me to see the technician and I got set up with nasal pillows. I had concerns about the pressure if it was going to be going straight up my nose and how I could turn the pressure down, he didn't want to tell me.

I went home and tried them within a minuite I could see there was no way I could use them, machine is set at 16.0 cm H2O, and proceeded to sneez for the next 45 mins. So put them aside and carried on with the full face mask.

I haven't been using the machine for the past couple of days, been giving my nose a rest. Last night I thought to hell with it and found how to adjust the pressure on youtube, adjusted the pressure to 12.0 and used the nasal pillows. The wife has said I wasn't struggling to breath, obviously she didn't stay awake all the time but she does wake up a couple of times during the night.

The problem today is, for the first half hour this morning I was sneezing unbelievably and all day my nose has been like a tap!!! For almost 12 hours my nose has been running, like as if I have a cold. There's no way I can use the nasal pillos tonight and I don't want to use the full face mask.

The technician did mention nasal spray but I don't know what, the only nasal thing I can think of is Vicks, LOL.

      Nasal Spray

Probably means an inhaled steroid; usually Beclomethasone which is prescribed for hay fever and other forms of allergic rhinitis. I use it all year round.

I had problems with full face mask and nasal pillows so now have a hybrid mask
Resmed Mirage Liberty (which I bought direct from ResMed).
ResMed S9 Autoset with humidifier and ClimateLine
ResMed Mirage Liberty and Quattro Air masks
      Sinupulse

        Thanks, for the replies.

The wife went to the chemist in her dinner hour yesterday (bless her). Turns out the pharmacist's father has sleep apena and he knew exactly what she was on about and gave her something called nasacort, it worked a treat, stopping the crap almost as soon as I sprayed it up my nose.

I reset the pressure back to what it should be (16.0 cm H2O) and wore the nasal pillow(s) again last night. I had 8 1/2 hours sleep, woke up feeling the best I have for years. Can't believe how I've felt and what I've got done today
