  • Swift FX Nasal Pillows

    Hi Y'all,

It's been awhile since I've been to the nose hose forum. I switched to a Swift FX nasal pillows thingy a couple of months ago. I recommend it as it is not very intrusive and the pillows themselves are, um, more fluffy(?). The hose itself just hangs off the front and swivels about, which I prefer over having it run up over my head.

As far as the BIPAP therapy itself, I would say it has been relatively successful. I have reached a point where I'm not tired during the day, which is good. But I am not feeling that extra spark that others seem to experience with CPAP. My doc had the pressure raised once before since I have a severe case of apnea so perhaps raising it even more will help.

    Bye for now,
    Steve

    Good news

    Hi steveh

Good to hear from you again - especially that you are doing well!

Seems like with PAP therapy, there is always room for improvement. Has anyone found PAP Nirvana yet? - if such a place exists for folk with something clamped to their faces each night!

        hello
What level of pressure do you have in your machines? Are you mouth breather?

I'm experimenting with different masks and positioning and things - and for me at the moment the sleepweaver has it. Tried an F&P Forma for a few nights (will try again shortly but it broke...) and it's very comfortable, and full face is a completely different experience from nasal, but so far only the sleepweaver makes you check it's there when you wake up.

I have not yet tried the Sleepweaver but I would suggest the Swift FX provides a similar positive experience of you not being aware it is there. Only trouble being it doesn't fit me for long as my nostrils are not even, one pillow slips out and comes adrift. Now if they supplied a cushion system... (sorry to repeat this in other posts I am hoping the manufacturer gets the message).

              Changed my life!

Having been given a nasal mask by the hospital and then having bought myself a full-face mask, I just couldn't get on with CPAP therapy.

That is ... until I bought the Swift FX. I bought it direct from ResMed's online store for just £80 (£25 off recommended price) and right from the first night it has been brilliant. My partner loves it as she gets a full night's sleep now as well!

I am a very restless sleeper who tosses and turns all night. With my main tube on a support to stop rainout (£20 from hope-to-sleep) and the Swift FX connected to it, I can get at least five or six hours of good sleep without air blowing all over the place or in my eyes!

I note that the offer I got has been extended until the end of this month so now may be a good time to buy (http://shop.realsleep.co.uk/).

But for this excellent form I probably wouldn't have persevered with the therapy!

Note: I have no connection with ResMed other than being a VERY happy customer!

                Hi peeps,

I have been using CPAP for 15 years or so and have had varying success with different masks. My initial try with a full face mask caused me to get a friction sore on the bridge of my nose which took ages to heal. I swapped out to nasal pillows about 12 years ago and have been better off since.

12 months or so ago the clinic issued me with a brand new machine and mask system, this is the swift FX. The mask worked well for a while but recently I have had problems with the rear strap slipping up the back of my head and the mask slipping off. This becomes more apparent after a hair cut !!

Does anyone have any advice how I can secure the rear strap a bit better to reduce the slippage?

                  Strap slipping

Hi, you might try a "self-adhesive backed" velco strip on the mask back strap. The sticky side will apply to the mask strap. The non-adhesive side will stick to your hair (Or a bald head) better than the mask backstrap. It may tug a little getting it off your hair--but you can be gentle about it. Suede would probably work, as would any other slightly rough material, but the velcro is easy to use. Good Luck, Berneta

I have Swift FX for her and I have to agree, it is fantastic, no leaks, no air blowing in your eyes, no marks on the face when waking up and my darling hubby doesn't blown on.

I love my cpap but hate my mask with a passion. I have had to slept on my side since about 25 and favour my left. Since starting cpap in October10. I keep waking with a sore ear (before I would not have been sleeping long enough for my ear to get sore) I'm so programed not to turn on my back that I turn onto my front to releave the pressure from my ear and the mask silps!

I already have the straps too tight or it just leaks every time I move my head, which is all the time. My pressure isn't high enought to lay on my back anyway.

I'm in clinic in a few weeks and hope they will let me have a nasal-pillow! If not I'll have to save up and buy my own.

I use mine all the time for day use. Mostly very comfy but some irritation after several hours. I like the softness and double barrel of the nose bit. At night thought I am back to full face because even with a chin strap air blows out my lips unless I use Duct Tape :-/ I really wish this came as a hybrid - this pillow attached to oral/mouth mask. My hybrid mask has nowhere near soft enough nose bits and gets sore after even an hour.
