  • Mask leak torment, possible solution.

New to all this. Four weeks in now and tormented by mask leaks, particularly around the eyes and nose so that I never get more than 4 hours or so continuous. Got so bad I'll avoid going to bed. I can get used to the noise and the blower, even the very dry mouth and eyes but my mask - said to be one of the latest - mirage 4 - just won't fit satisfactorily around the bridge of my nose - obviously I'm "not as other men" and must have a conical head as the head strap keeps moving north. Yes, the device puts me out but I've only to move and the mask starts hissing into my eyes enough to wake me.
Hmmm! I tried the specific RemZzzs liners for my mask - way too thin to have the effect - but more success with a towelling strip taped across my nose.
So....I've made a copy of the Remzz in towelling material and it seems to work much better, thick enough to do the job around my "peculiar" nose and able to be pulled for adjustment from the outside. We shall see - I don't like to be beaten but cannot say CPAP is a success for me yet. I'm sure I'm sleeping much deeper with some very strange dreams but not getting the length of sleep required yet, thus still pretty tired.
Now the dryness of the mouth is not at all nice so....I'm getting me some plastic tubing like a long straw to my bedside drink. Hopefully I'll be able to switch off CPAP, push the tube under the bottom of the mask and take a sip without having the remove the whole shebang, remove tube and settle mask, switch on and off to dreamland again!
Question! Since your nose decides to start itching the minute you settle the mask - how do astronauts cope???
Working...
