Licence back + good news for Essex

Hi John,
Iseems to have gone a little quiet on the Essex CPAP provision front, it's now been three months since I caused a few waves, and I've heard nothing. I've contacted BBC Essex again, the local papers and the Trust, just waiting now for some response.
I'm glad that you got your wequipment from the London Hospital without any problems, I'm hoping that if and when the trust open the unit they will not follow the same route as the london and have long waits etc.
I'll post when I find out what's happening about opening a unit for us Essex folk.

Hi everybody especially Tony in Brentwood and any other Essex people, I have been a sufferer for about 10 years and have had a number of machines all for which I have had to pay for a great expence, I even had to go private to get seen by a specialist. Broomfield Hospital do run a sleep clinic and the Consultant is Dr Keith L Hattotuwa MBBS, FRCP. I would be very interested in joining any clinic set up especially to have my machine serviced and get replacement masks as they also cost a fortune, at the moment I use a neet little machine by PROBASICS AN 9s silent running all the usual features ramp, timer, etc and a small nasal mask which I find the best for me, I have tried the water air vapour type (A Fisher&Paykel 604 which is in the series 600) but I could not get on with it, In fact if anybody is interested it is up for sale. I have listed it on Ebay (even though they don't and won't let you list cpap's on there site). I purchased one recently on Ebay a REMstar Auto M series with A-Flex but when I turn it on it flashes a traingle whith an exclamation mark in the centre, unfortunatly I did not get a manual with it and dont seem to be able to find one on the REMstar website.

Welcome to the forums!

Indeed, eBay won't allow prescription items. If you keep violating their terms, you may well find yourself banned.

You are welcome to put your machine in the classifieds section here. There are hundreds of CPAP users on here so chances are, you will find an interested party. To be allowed to post in the classifieds, you just need to post a few messages in the forums first.

Also, if you PM me your address, I can send you a manual for the M Series.

Hi Bob,
Funny enough I looked out the window last night to look at a helicopter hovering overhead but when I looked-no helicopter! Would you have been snoring at around 2am? lol.
I don't visit the forum as much as I used to at the start of my CPAP journey, I check in every now and then, I guess that as I seem to be sleeping well now and not ripping off the mask every night (I'm back on the nasal mask, giving the pillows a rest) I havn't got much to contribute.
As to CPAP in Essex, I'm still on it, I put in a complaint last week to the PALS patient department at Mid Essex Trust as everything seems to have gone quiet regarding provision, and got a reply that funding is still being sought and that they still plan to open a unit providing they can fund it. If you fancy giving them a little additional shove you might like to email them to ask why Essex send everyone to London they are at

I'm sure that the more complaints they get the quicker they will try to get moving on it, it could be that I'm the only one they are hearing from on this. I have a contact number for Essex Radio who want to know of any developments, so they like to get involved as well if you get any joy from the Trust.
I've just got a reply from my MP Mr Whittingale who has written to the Trust Chief Exec to see whats happening. It might help to write to him as well if you would like to push for CPAP provision locally instead of having to go to London.

I will e-mail and write to all the contacts you have given me and will let you know how I get on, as I said I have an appointment next week with my Doctor and I will badger him, I will also write to this Specialist who I have seen before privatly at Springfield and also at Broomfield, It's funny that they do sleep study's at Broomfield for sleep APNEA but dont go any further than that they must supply machines to people they diagnose with the problem and so they must service them.

Anyways we wont be beaten.
