  • Power cuts

I have been looking at my electricity companies website and they can inform users of medical equipment if there are any planned interuptions to the supply.
I have registered with this service.
Has anybody else contacted their electricity suppliers.

Did they give any indication of how many are planned and how many aren't?

I'd guesstimate a ratio of 10:1 with the unplanned variation more prominent.

Its not the power going off that worries me its the voltage it goes up to when the power goes back on.
The last time there was a major cut the voltage came back on at 388V. I dont think I want to be hooked up to machine at that time. I might land up flying above my roof.

For those scenarios, a relatively inexpensive filter will avoid damage to the machine. You can get an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) which gives you some 15 minutes ot switch everything off properly, they filter peaks as well. Or without the backup power, you can get those surge protection sockets for around £20 from computer shops etc.
