  • Too many hours

    I don't like this machine.

I cant have a afternoon kip as I don't sleep.

I cant have a extra couple of hours in bed in the morning as I don't sleep.

I have all these extra hours which I dont know what to do with!!!!

It's terrible, so sorry to hear

You can try sedatives or binge drinking to induce sleep. Or run a marathon or two every morning to ensure a good afternoon kip.

It's an awful problem many CPAP users suffer from.

          Its a nightmare friends.

          You understand me for sure.

I used to get back from work, sleep for an hour, eat, and worked one more hour on the computer feeling dizzy and exhausted..

Now I get back, I feed my 2 dogs, 4 cats, do some gardening, cook for dinner, cook for next day dogfood, work a couple of hours on the computer, and do some more jobs in the house assisting my wife.

Hey, nobody warned us for this! I will dig an underground room to hide there!

Time - Money so all that extra time you lot have is costing you deerly, especially these economic times

Heaven forbid, you could spend time with family or do some extra hours paid or volunteer work! But isn't it nice to sit through a movie and actually getting it all in?!

              Good Point!

              James

Very true - you make a good point - well presented - its great not feeling knackered all the time! Falling asleep at the slightest opportunity - NO MORE!

In addition now I'm sleeping so well (last night was the BEST YET!!!! ) I am finding it easier to eat less and feel happier! I wonder if there is a link to "comfort" eating and OSA?

              Your thoughts most welcome?

              Cheers

It is often said that untreated OSA is heavily linked with depression. Also, OSA is also thought of as one element of a bigger metabolic syndrome. Take those two into account, then yes, it becomes evident that by successfully treating OSA with CPAP, you solve the depression (eliminate need for comfrt eating) as well as (a big part of) the metabolic syndrome which also directly influences metabolism and nutrient processes. Indeed, this fixing of OSA alone often gets people to loose weight instantly (stressed body from oxygen deprevation appears to release cortisol which encourages fat storage). Then take into account the extra energy, people starting to exercise and this may propel them towards further weightloss and ultimately, hopefully, fixing OSA at the source. (If excess weight is the cause for you - not for everybody).

The best thing about CPAP is probably a side effect.
The nightmares and bad dreams I have suffered from for many years have stopped since using CPAP.
For that reason alone I will keep using the machine anything else is a bonus.

Also ,after being on CPAP for over a month, I am beginning to find that the fatigue I have suffered from for 25 years or more is no longer arround .
I know its "crying over spilt milk" but I am beginning to think of all the wasted years.

                        True.
In my case I am thinking the same and its only 5 years that I had it! (Actually have it - its not gone!)

Well, what can we say? At least its something that doesn't need pills or surgery! Imagine if you had to live the rest of your life with cpap not treated!

Now that the clocks have gone back and the weather is back to normal (wet) I would normally start to think about hibernation .
But now ,since CPAP, I think I will be awake for the winter.
