    Resmed Liberty Mask

    Hi James
Are you aware of any recent design changes to the nasal pillows part of this mask which I am now using. Really good idea from the freedom point of view but the nasal pillow stalks seem a bit prone to bending and consequently blocking during movement overnight. I can set up the pillow cones beautifully at the start of sleep but inevitably wake with the movement of pillows during sleep.
    Regards
    Tony

      Liberty Experience

      Hi

If you suffer with claustraphobia then the Liberty may prove to be an answer.
It is much lighter and less "in your face" than a Quattro.

On the nasal pillows ResMed told me last month that they have just tweaked the nasal pillow design slightly (I'm using the medium size on the large mask). The key to no leaks is allowing the pillows to concertina as designed - if the mouth piece of the mask rides up towards the nose this can twist the nasal pillow tubes and they can distort / leak / block / wake you up

The other suggestion I can make is when you put the mask on just lick your finger and wipe round the outer fold of the pillow (the soft ones) with a light wetness - it really helps the seal. (If you are on higher pressures you may want to use a light smear of vasaline)

Since using the Liberty mask I have only been woken from sleep twice; once through no fault of the mask (the cat decided at 3am it was time to attack the blowing vent of a mouse she thought was on her masters face! ) and once when the mask had ridden up my face. To find out what is happening I get up, stick my gig-lamps on, and have a look in the mirror at the top of the landing - you can usually see what is causing the problem then. (Note try this if you're as blind as a bat without glasses with any other FF or nasal mask - impossible but with the Liberty fairly easily sorted!

Hope this provides some further "light on the subject" - cheers
