  • Do you use the Ramp Up?

    Hi
I have a Remstar CPAP and the ramp is set to start at 4cmH20 ramping up over a 30 minute period to my pressure setting at 8cmH20 but I have found that I find it easier to fit my mask and go straight to the top pressure without using the ramp facility.

Do any of you find this is best for you too?

Going straight to the set pressure means that I do not tend to get leaks later in the night which some of you seem to get when using the ramp up

Any comments / pointers I'd be interested - many thanks

I agree totally and according to the clinic today this is common among severe cases and it is perfectly fine to not use the ramp

I stopped using the RAMP almost immediately. It is just a matter of personal preference and makes no difference what so ever to the clinical effects of the treatment. Some people feel claustrophobic when they put the mask on and the RAMP can help to alleviate this.

Don't Tell me - I might be NORMAL!

Glad to hear that I might have a few "normal" actions in my life!
Seriously though this is what it is all about - if you are not sure of something post it up - there is bound to be someone who has already been through the same issue or knows something that will work or help or another source of information - GREAT TEAM EFFORT as they say!

Using the ramp up is like standing if front of a firing squad with your mask on and being told there will be a delay. Just get it over with. Find the leaks right away

Welcome Chipman - Thats the spirit BRITISH HUMOUR!

            Welcome Chipman,
Excellent to have another person with the British humour "laughing beats howling anyday of the week!"
I find being able to see the funny side of it all keeps you relatively sane but in my case that is open to debate!
Facing the firing squad - I like that alot!

Keep in touch and keep smiling; anything else whitty? BRING IT ON!

I agree, we all differ but it is reassuring to know that you are in fact, not alone but suffering the same 'problems' as others.
I agree with Chipman, forget the ramp, feel the force! Or should that be 'may the force be with you'?

Do you use the Ramp Up?

I use the ramp up purely because that's the way I started with CPAP. I set my mask on my face first using my full pressure of 10.2 then set the ramp for 15 minutes the (I set the ramp to start at 5.6) and by the time it hits full pressure I'm generally out for the count and no leaks.

I just find it more comfortable to use the ramp, I also use the EPR feature and I now sleep like a baby (not a very cute one I admit) it works for me. I've been on CPAP since December.
