I have found out today that if I want a humidifier then I will have to buy one myself. I already have had to supply my own mask.
It looks like, in my area, the machine is all that is supplied.

Check with CAB re your Contract!

          Hi Tony
Even if you have signed a contract with your local health authority regarding the purchase and ownership of your CPAP machine I suggest you get it checked out by your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
If there is case history what has happened to you may be illegal - I find it absolutely outrageous that you have purchased something that you then do not own outright - unless the third party funded part of the cost!
Hope this may be of assistance - all the best

            Hi TWW,
            I
My local papers have now covered the story with pictures etc, If I can find out how to do it I'll scan the page and put it on the forum. I'm waiting for the Health Authority to contact me to discuss it, I've had a letter saying they'll be in touch . I'm hoping they change the policy, maybe too late for me but ok for the next generation of patients.
            Regards,
            Tony.

              Thats the Spirit!

              Hi Tony

Glad to hear you are trying to help future suffers - the health authority will not like negative press comment so you never know you may get that money back or the rights to the machine.

I think many will be interested to know how you get on - keep us posted

              All the best - Cheers

How long to get your CPAP?

                Hi Tony,

Glad to hear that you are getting on ok with the machine, I finally got my NHS machine this morning- all singing and dancing Resmed Spirit I think, I have to use this for 2 weeks and then swop it for the standard machine once they have downloaded the settings that are required for me. Like you I bought my own machine some time ago due to the delays but having used it since late January it has helped tremendously, this will be my back up for holidays etc as its a Sleep cube autoadjust so doesn't need to be set up. I will arrange my own maintenance as I don't intend signing it over just so they can maintain it, the signing over of machines seems to be common with the NHS as I mentioned this to a work colleague as he has a private machine as well which they will maintain as long as he signs it over, presumably when he pops his clogs!!!
