ResMed being Australian, their equipment apparently uses some kind or reverse polarity. It's beyond my understanding of electronics but the end result is that you can't just stick it in any power source. With ResMed, you always need some kinf od converter/adapter in between.
So chances are you've blown its circuitry.
Top right on www.resmed.co.uk you'll find their telephone numbers under contact us. See what they say.

Reverse polarity.
the resmed machines indeed require the polarity of the 12v input to be positive outside negetive on the centre pin. Resmed do make an adaptor which maintains and smoothes the power loss on a car battery until the battery is unable to power the cpap sufficiently, the power is then cut to the cpap at around 9v protecting the battery from fully draining and being damaged. If you cpap does not work after being plugged in on the standard uk polarity then the internal fuse has blown, this is repairable but you can not do it yourself. Remed will repaire it free of charge if you contact them and pay for the postage. The fuse is located on the circuitboard and is about the size of a pin head.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Alex.

sorry to drag up an old thread but to save anyone trawling the net and finding this thread
but having an autoset by resmed and suffering the reverse polarity symptom.
i tried hard to find were the smd fuse is located but to no avail
and the repair is no longer free
the uk arm of resmed is realsleep uk and i was quoted 65 for a repair and return
if i had a schematic of the machine i would do it myself for a few pence as i have an smd rework station
having trawled the net for many hours for info it would seem they have it sewn up and i will have to pay through the nose for a simple repair

i did look at this and gave up on it right away as it does not look fuse like...although the f1 locator says it is a fuse..
will report back when i locate and fit the replacement
thank you thank you and again thank you
