I think I might have missed a crucial bit in the instruction class. What is the ramp button for? Am i supposed to be using it? And I'm getting a bit worried about hygeine. Is the tube a breeding ground for bacteria? Should I be disinfecting it?

It's all in the posts
Some folk don't use the ramp - others, like me, wouldn't be without it.
Put your mask on, press the start button, wait till you are accustomed to that pressure - then press the ramp button. That's the effect. The pressure builds over time to your set pressure. It's so you can go to sleep at low pressures, get used to pressure gradually.
You are supposed to wash the hose and mask. See the sticky post at the top of 'Masks'. But it's up to you, after all.

I switched the ramp off after the second night. I fell asleep the first night and woke up as soon as the pressure heightened. So I dropped the time and the same thing happened. So the next night I switched it off and now go straight in to the full pressure setting. I fall asleep before I switch the light off sometimes now!
I did phone the clinic to check it was okay and they said I had done the right thing if that was what suited me.
If you want to alter the machine or change what has been set then confirm the changes with the clinic, you should not go wrong then. I was cpcp compliant from day two averaging 6.5 hours per night (only 3 the first night)
