I've had my cpap machine,a fisher paykel sleep style 2000 with ambiant tracking, for a couple of months, and at my 3month checkup was feeling confident enough to enquire about evaluating my progress.
Unfortunately the response I received was not as expected. 'Your doing very well' was the reply. Not one to be side stepped, I asked how she knew this, 'By what you are saying' and all the time fiddling with the machine ( was she resetting it ?) who knows.
I actually hadn't given her a progess report apart from 'Not too bad' so I enquired if there was a procedure/process of review to quantify a before and after senario and the reply was 'No' we don't do that'
I must say I was disappointed with this somewhat dismissive/unhelpful response. My whole visit, after travelling an hour, for a 9am appointment, being kept waiting for 25 minutes, lasted the grand total of 5minutes, including provision of spare filters, spare nasal pillows and a machine check. As the only patient I did wonder what the rush was!
Hardly a real patient focused approach.
Not having been provided with an instruction manual, I took to the web for the product information but the technical jargon is unfamiliar. However undaunted, I have managed to adjust the temperature settings and sucessfully eliminated the 'rain out' I was experiencing.
Now I need to find out how episodes of Apnea are recorded if at all, or is the number of increases in pressure output that are measured?
Is there anyone out there who can help me interpret the 'modes' on this particular model, I would be very appreciative.
