  • About to get my machine

I was diagnosed with OSA a month ago and had my appointment today to discuss treatment. I am getting a CPAP - will go in for an overnight stay in about 10 days time to test it and can take it home the following morning. They let me have a go with a mask today - I feel much more comfortable about the whole idea now. I had thought I would feel suffocated but didn't. The CPAP is a Fischer Paykal Sleepsmart and has a built in humidifier and a heated hose. Fingers crossed!

    Good luck!

Good luck, Poppy56 - sounds like you have a good start to this new part of your life!

While you wait for your sleep test, might I suggest you read threads about OSA and DVLA, if you haven't already.

Thanks Tigers Fan. Luckily I don't drive so need to inform the DVLA - I used to, but stopped because I hated it.

If you have passed your test and hold a licence you have to tell them even if you don't drive.
Good luck with your equipment, heated hose eh, some trusts are getting very generous! Which nhs trust is it?

When I drove, I was living abroad, so never sat a test in this country and have never held a UK driving licence.

I live in Surrey but the hospital I attend is in Sussex.
