I posted in another forum - I am in Canada and am trying to return to London but have had a sleep study here and need a CPAP machine for high end of mild sleep apnoea which gets worse in REM sleep. I don't know if I should go ahead and start things here or get back to London and do it there.
Do you think they will make me do sleep study again and how long might I have to wait to get an appointment etc. I was at the London Chest Hospital before but couldn't get a study time that suited. What would happen if I got the machine here and then came back to London? Do you think they would let me retest there or should I just complete whatever I do in one place? It's the time involved that's bothering me. First I have to choose machine, then buy it, then get the prescription for the pressure. Then wear it for a month, he said, then another sleep study, then wait three or four weeks for him to analyse and see me... and what if the pressure is wrong, will he say I need a third test with the new one? Argh.
Sounds like there you get to try a machine out for a while before you commit. Don't know if it happens here. I do know they cost about $1,200 Canadian and you get just over half back from the government. What's the story there?
I've got so many questions and I'm totally stuck. I'm just a few weeks away from going home to London and now this! I thought the doctor might be helpful but no, he seems to be rushed etc. And my GP is away for a couple of weeks - nice timing!
Anyone got any good/realistic advice for me?
