Do you have a humidifier ?

If so try putting the machine on the floor. - so the pipe has to go upwards.

      More suggestions

The complete answer is to buy a heated hose (talk to James) if you can afford one. A hose sleeve (also from James) will help tremendously but may not give a full solution. Increasing the temperature of your bed room at night will help - just enough to prevent condensation.

I'd not recommend putting your machine on the floor for fear of it picking up dust particles - but the principal of having it lower than your mask is sound.

I support what Tigers Fan has said, I was constantly being rained upon due to condensation in the tube, getting a heated hose has totally cured the problem

            Hi there

I got my machine just before Christmas, I was really lucky in the end and they gave me a machine the day of my first appointment.

anyhow I have had problems with condensation in the mask and Oh My God it makes you jump!! I don't have a humidifier but what i will say is we've just moved to Newark, nottingham and I think the property has been empty a while and the house has been really damp and tons of condensation. However the last week or so the house has been warmer and less damp and low and behold no drips!!

I find that I'm lying on my back and not moving at all or going to loo, its great. Starting to feel benefits now as it took a few weeks to get myself sorted!!

As a matter of interest. When you place the CPAP lower than your head or on the floor, is there any chance of the condensation running down the hose into the machine and damaging it?

                  Two answers

                  Hi Andysee

The condensate will run back down the hose and into the humidifier chamber if you have one, no problem. If you don't have a humidifier, it would run into the air side of the CPAP and slowly choke the air flow. To avoid damage to the machine, ensure there is a dip in the hose, going below the machine outlet, before rising up to your mask - thus forming a water trap. The hose would choke eventually if you have enough condensate and would need to be cleared - but the lack of air would wake you up in time, don't worry!

I have a chamber from a humidifier between my machine and mask to act as a collecting tank. Due to the manufacturers sales methods (you can only buy in pairs) I have a spare, unused one going at cost - still sealed. PM me if you want it.

                  Hi verybiggirl

For a tenner, James will sell you a hose sheath which will certainly improve your situation, if not cure it.

In tandem with a fleece tube wrap, the Hose Lift also helps in this area. Water droplets are heavy so if you route the tube upwards from the machine before it drops down again towards the mask, he droplets will struggle to rise and stay at the machine end rather than to the mask.

But yes, a heated hose like those found in F&P machines and available stand-alone (in UK soon) will tackle the issue 100 percent.
