    hI ALL

    BACK AGAIN

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I HAVE BEEN GIVEN CONFIRMATION OF SEVERE OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNOEA... I HAVE BEEN AVING 153 EPISODES PER HOUR! NO WONDER IVE BEEN FEELING SO LETHARGIC! THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WAS ABOUT 4 AND A HALF YEARS AGO AND WAS TOLD IT WAS DIABETES, UNDER ACTIVE THYROID...TWO gp'S LATER SOMEONE TOOK ME SERIOUSLY...I NOW NO LONGER FEEL LIKE IM GOING MAD!

I DID AN OVER NIGHT SLEEP STUDY AT HOME AND WENT TO HOPSITAL TODAY TO COLLECT AN APAP MACHINE WHICH I WILL USE FOR TWO WEEKS THEN RETURN IT CHRISTMAS EVE TO COLLECT A CPAP... THEY WILL USE THE DIAGNOSTICS ON THE APAP TO INFORM THEM OF THE GAGE NEEDED FOR THE CPAP...

IN ADDITION TO THIS I HAVE HAD TWO CORNEAL TRANSPLANTS, VERY HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND AN CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL AFFECT MY EYES IN SOME WAY... I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A MASK THAT COVERS BOTH EYES AND NOSE AND THIS WILL BE SECURED IN PLACE SO IT HOPEFULLY WILL NOT MOVE... I WILL TRY AND CHECK BACK EVERY FEW DAYS AND GIVE AN UPDATE!

tHINGS I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO:-

    *A DECENT NIGHTS SLEEP
*GETTING MY LIFE BACK AND STARTING SOME EXCERCISE TO LOSE WEIGHT
*BEING ABLE TO SLEEP WITHOUT WONDERING IF MY NEIGHBOURS CAN HEAR ME SNORING! (I AM SURE THEY CAN COS I CAN HEAR THEIR SEXUAL ANTICS!)

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE AND IM EXCSTATIC!

    Hi Dee,

    Great to hear from you.

153 events per hour explains a lot, that could be a record here! Glad to hear they have equipment lined up for you fairly promptly. Hope you get on well with it soon.

The mask rig sounds interesting, please do keep us posted.

I can imagine your excitement and hopefully in turn for your snoring disappearing, your neighbours will keep their trousers on too

It's really great to hear they've found the culprit for you and that they're finally helping you out. We are exstatic for you!

          Double header

Congratulations D33D33! You stay ecstatic about it and I'm convinced that helps compliance and success. A positive start and a positive attitude helps when the road gets rocky.

And who's full of cliche this morning?

          Hey Pipkin!

You having a rough time of it lately? You certainly seem to be leaking sideways something you have bottled up inside! Can you talk to us about it?

Hiya guy very sorry 153 was a typo its 158!
My boss did not believe me either and i showed her the paperwork for it!

i think i will frame it and in yrs look back at this journey...the day i got my life back...

I truly feel blessed to have you guys... James you are definately a gem... makes a change for a rep to be concerned for peoples health rather than pushing their own services and equipment all the time..

My first night was better than expected...

The c flex machine starts gently at first and then the pressure gradually increases...however i was woken a few times when the air pressure got high... and air ended up leaking and i felt like i just wanted to drag the mask off!... i found my lips were getting dry so will always put some vaseline on them before i go to bed now... and i also felt thirsty as the back of my throat was dry...

i think altogether i got 4 hours sleep which i think is good and i definately seem more with it today...

The mask is the one thats advertised on the front of the respironics booklets...with he head band securing it in place...

tonight im going to try putting the machine on my bed... my beds near a wall and i sleep in a double bed so hopefully i can sleep on my normal side without any problems... and hopefully be more comfortable...

i know ive got to stick with this...there is no other option for me...i will see if i can find a better position tonight... just not the same type that my neighbours do! rofl

Did you get a humidifier? That can help with the dry lips and throat, makes things a lot more comfy. Four hours on night one is certainly an achievement and it will most likley be on and upwards from here as you find your comfort zone with it.

If you wake up with the high pressure, you can hit the ramp button (triangle of sorts) to start low again and ease yourself to sleep.

If you do need more space you can in fact get a 10ft tube to give you 4ft extra.

                Not a good idea

Your machine very probably has cooling air inlet ports/grill underneath. These would be blocked if you place the machine on your bed - not good! However, placing the machine on a tray - or other flat, hard surface - on your bed would be fine.

A tray might also contain any spillage from the humidifier.

                  hiya

Last night was worse... despite me waiting up a lil later so i was more tired...

so tonight im going to try sleeping on my back propped up and see hoqw i get on thanks for the information about the vents will put it on a tray this evening...

i find a drink and vaseline on my lips is enough at the moment

This weekend will try lots of different approaches....

thanks for your support will get back with another update xxx

also fogot to say i am using the ramping feature... will persevere but i agree with other users the benefits far outweight the negatives ive gone from bp last at 200 over 120 to normal limits with the bottom number just being 82! id rather a wind tunnel than a stroke!

ok hands up i fell asleep and frogot to put the machine on!!!!

neeedless to say slept during the day today and put it on and found that the head strap can also be adjusted so had less leakage problems... i found lying on my back more easier with the pillow support the big test will be tonight where its not short bursts but longer periods...
