  • How to sleep.....................

    Hi
Hope you dont mind another question
Is it better to sleep on your back or on your side - I normally sleep on my side?
Also should I have one pillow or two or does it not matter??
    Many thanks!

Do what you have always done.
You will do that once sleeping anyway.

There is more of a tendency to snore if you sleep on your back.

Some masks don't work to well if you sleep on your side, full faced ones especially. If it works for you sleeping on your side, that's fine.

Just carry on as before as long as it works for you.

      Trial and error

      Hi Wheatley

Welcome to the land of nobody knows till you find out!!

Sleep on your back and statistically you will have a higher AHI - apnoeas and hypopnoeas - but who knows for you?

One pillow or two? try a week with each and see which suits you best. My bet is on one.

Intus sell a CPAP pillow that gets in the way of masks less than a conventional pillow. I get round the problem by sleeping at the ends of my single pillow.

The most common theme to all the posts on the forum is experimentation - especially when it comes to which mask suits best!!

Good luck and gently does it. It will all work out fine in the end - well, it does for most of us!

The CPAP should take care of either position but as stated above, oftentimes people have more breathing 'events' when they're on their back. Hence the existance of tennis-ball-PJs and other contraptions to keep you off your back.
