  • Resmed s8 Very Loud nasl pillow

    Hello there.
Can someone tell me if they think that their cpap machine sounds very loud when used with a nasal pillow. When I start of the ramp for 15 mins or so the air flow seems to get louder and louder round my nose ( nasal pillow). Luckily ive dozed of by then but now finding myself wakening during the night and find the drone round my nose and face terrible. The irony is that I do (think ) am feeling more energetic. But I really don't think I can tolerate the drone. I also think its making my hearing dull. Please group any info on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks Kev

    Hi Kev,

With nasal pillows, the air gets pushed through a narrower opening so by virtue of their design, have a tendency to be more audible in general.

What pressure does your machine ramp up to?

And are your nasal airways complete free?

My nose does suffer from bad sinus problems but is fairly clear at moment. I ramp for 15mins then it set at 9psi?. Its only when i wake up sometimes that I hear the really loud hum whoosh noise and always in the morning as I said its making my hearing dull..

        Hi Kev,
How long have you been using the pillows.
I went from a mask to pillows and also found the noise to be quite loud but I got used to it after a while.
It would be worth stripping and rebuilding the whole head set as you may have a small leak. This happened to me once.
I have recently bought a new mkII headset which does seem quieter.
        Hope this is some help.
        Chris

I found that some noise comes from the pipe, just by putting a fleece wrap on it, can reduce the sound of air rushing past the corrigations.
