  • BreathX Journey

Well I finally did it and bit the bullet and ordered the BreathX Journey battery powered CPAP for my forthcoming trip.
I won't say where I got it from for fear of being flamed.
First impressions seem favourable but I will report back more fully once we have had a chance to get aquainted.

As a user already I'd be interested in your opinion. I'm sold on it for convenience, especially on plane. The 'flamer' appears to have become a pork scratching and gone elswhere to vent his spleen.

      Hi ChrisP,

I've set up a number of BreatheX Journey's and demo-ed a couple too. People tend to quickly see its many benefits. I don't know of any other device which is so directly geared towards traveling.

As far as flaming goes, please don't be put off sharing your thoughts. Free speech is your right so please don't hesitate to share good or bad experiences and opinions.

Regarding your husband, poke him between the ribs with a stick every minute a half for an entire night and see how he feels in the morning. That should settle that debate.

There are a lot of CPAP users who have their primary machine from the NHS and a secondary machine, for travel or permanently in their holiday home, bought privately. I've never heard of anyone "booted" from the NHS for having a secondary machine. The consultant will understand perfectly if you just say it as it is, that you are contemplating getting a travel machines for those 2 weeks a year you are out and about and that you need a confirmation of your pressure in order to purchase it.

If you prefer not telling them, you can say you will be flying abroad and that you need a confirmation for airport security or in case of a medical emergency whilst abroad that you need to use CPAP at that pressure. That's a common request they normally assist with readily. That way you have a copy of your needs which serves perfectly as a pseudo-prescription.

All it needs to say is "Your Name has been diagnosed with OSA and benefits from using CPAP at X hPa / cm H2O." Takes them no time at all.
