    Hi Karrunan,

Welcome my friend, I use the ResMed S8 Escape and find it is excellent. I see you live in Malaysia so I don't know what the supply is like there.

I had a humidifier added as my throat was drying up and that just clips onto the ResMed S8 Escape, so think about that. It involves more work and care and is extra cost if you have to pay! You will need to try masks on too and you may have to try one first then buy another if need be, though the UK health sevice will find one for you. I have two types of masks. Do you breath through your mouth, nose or both. If 'mouth or both' you may need a full face mask which I have, they're a wee bit clostraphobic to start with but you get used to it. Pleeeese keep with the CPAP as you may be put off at the start. It will seem uncomfortable to start with but the rewards are immense and life-changing! I also have a hose support which holds up the hose and allows more freedom of movement.

Look at these two sites for ratings and prices - www.EU-PAP.co.uk an excellent UK site who supports this forum (I'm sure they post outside this country) and www.cpap.com for outside the UK. Look at the ratings and decide which you like. If you can find a store that sell CPAP machines then look at the ratings on these sites, print off the ones you like and take these to the store and see and try them physically.

I hope this helps and Good luck my friend!

    See we don't bite!

      Before you leap

      Hi karunan

Has you doctor recommended that you use CPAP or APAP?

If you can afford it, an APAP would give you access to both types of therapy and extra comfort features. AN APAP would also help you to find the best settings for you more easily.

        APAP Machine

I was lent an APAP machine from Belfast City Hospital this Friday 28th inst.
I keep this machine until Tuesday when I return it at 10.30 a.m. when I will be given another machine when they have set the correct pressure for me. The first night Friday took me much longer to get to sleep as the machine working felt strange to me but when I got to sleep I feel I had a really good rest and did not wake during the rest of the night. On Monday night I have to use an oxi-meter machine as well as the apap and bring both machines back on Tues.
Last night I feel I slept really well and am delighted to say I feel less tired and fully refreshed today. I have an Olbas vaporiser in my room and find this helps me to breathe better, I also have a small bottle of Olbas oil but do not know how to use the oil. I have been given a nose mask which was adjusted to fit me in the hospital and I found this to be very comfortable which I used along with a special pillow I got from Florida to use with Cpap machine. I hope I cope as well with the Cpap machine that I expect they will give me on Tuesday.

          Fantastic news!

          Hi cDM

          Didn't you do well??!

A good start like yours helps you develop the all important positive attitude to CPAP therapy.

With adequate sleep of the refreshing kind you've had already, your energy levels will probably go up so your weight just might start to tumble in the near future.

Fingers crossed for the transition to CPAP from APAP!

Pressure Machine and Oxi meter test

Hi Tigers Fan, Many thanks for your interest. I will let you know how I get on after I return the 2 machines to the hospital on Tuesday. I do hope that when I get settled on CPAP I will lose weight more easily. Apparently when I get the machine to keep they make a review appointment in approx. 1 months time and if the readings of a further test prove I get at least 4 hrs quality sleep each night I will get a letter so that I can apply to restore my driving licence which I voluntarily surrendered last Feb.
