  • Advice on Resmed Airsense 10

    Hi,

I am now 4 nights into my CPAP journey, and have gone from 2 nights of great sleep with fantastic oxygen levels, to 2 nights of poor sleep with poor oxygen levels. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this, and whether I need to adjust minimum pressures and ramp pressures etc?

    1st nights results:

    Last nights results:

Any insights or suggestions would be amazing

    Thank you

    Hi Jon2263,

    Thank you for your post.

Can I kindly ask the following
    1. Is your airsense10 an auto or fixed pressure machine?
    2. What mask are you using?
    3. Do you breathe through your nose or your nose and mouth?
    4. Do you have the right size mask for your face?
    5. Have you watched a fitting video on youtube for your mask to make sure you are putting it on and adjusting it correctly?
    6. Is this your 1st CPAP machine and mask, and have you only used it for 4 nights only?

If your machine is an auto CPAP machine then you do not need to adjust the settings, the machine adjusts the pressure as and when you need it.

It looks like you have a mask leakage issue.

If you can come back to me in response to the above questions, then I will do what I can to help you.

Please note that it does take time to adjust to using a machine and mask.

Hi Kelly thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

      1. I have the auto machine
      2. I am using the dreamview mask (i bought the mixed pack from Intus and settled on the medium size)
      3. I breath through both
      4. I believe I have the right size, I have experimented with the sizes and settled on medium. I have used the mask fit setting on the machine and it reports a good seal
      5. Yes I followed the Philips video to the letter and have made sure to fit exactly as requested
      6. Yes this is my first CPAP Machine and mask, and yes it is my 4th night

      Many thanks in advance

        Hi,

I would suggest trying the mask for at least 10-14 nights as it does take time to adjust to a new mask or CPAP therapy if you are new.

Sometimes when CPAP users roll over in the night, they can knock the mask seal and create an air leak.

Give the mask and machine time for your body to adjust, and then see if the readings have improved in 10-14 nights, maybe a month to be more accurate. Should you need to look at an alternative mask then please do let me know, however we would prefer to help you with the mask you have first.

        Kelly

Hi John, I’ve been using cpap for years and it makes a huge difference. It’s well worth persisting.

I generally find that a new mask needs readjusting every few days for the first week or two. It might be the headgear material stretching a bit. Do you know how to activate the mask fit function and how to adjust your mask? It might be worth giving it a try.
